Growth both in mobile and fix business
48,000 new mobile customers
Non-voice ARPU for the first time reaches 50%
In the first quarter of 2017, T-Mobile Czech Republic continued to introduce innovative offers of services for residential and business customers. For example, the operator introduced new mobile tariffs (MOBIL) answering the growing demand for data, or enhanced significantly the accessibility of fix line internet with use of new fox-mobile technology.
The operator’s results confirm its good performance and the importance of data services. Compared to the same period last year, the number of customers and basic financial indicators slightly increased to that in 2016. While the average monthly spending on telecommunications services remained on the comparable level, consumption of services increased again, most significantly in the area of data.
“In 2017, we keep to stick to two priorities: expansion of various sorts of internet services and strengthening of our position as a strong and stable B2B partner,” says Milan Vašina, Managing Director at T-Mobile Czech Republic and Slovak Telekom, adding: “It makes me happy to see the strategy proves to be understood and appreciated by our customers.”
Customers and use of services
As at 31 March 2017, more than six million customers were using T-Mobile’s services, of whom 3.7 million were contract customers. The average monthly churn (the number of customers who stopped using the operator’s services) dropped to 1.2%.
In the first quarter 2017, users of T-Mobile’s mobile services called 158 minutes per month on average, which is 1.9% more compared to the previous year. The volume of transmitted data grew by 47.3% year-on-year, reaching 10,420 terabytes.
Financial indicators
Total revenues from mobile and fixed-line services reached CZK 6.5 billion, with revenues from mobile services approaching CZK 4.6 billion. The average monthly revenue from mobile services per user (ARPU) was CZK 251, which is by CZK 4 higher than in the previous year. The growing use of data services is mirrored in the share of non-voice services in ARPU from mobile services, which for the first time in history reached the level of 50%.
