T-Mobile’s LTE network now covers all districts of Prague
LTE signal is also available in dozens more locations in the Czech Republic’s rural areas
LTE-A technology launched in Prague, the first LTE-A-enabled devices on offer
Prague, 1 October 2014 – T-Mobile’s LTE network now covers the entire territory of the Czech capital. The network’s density is currently being increased based on traffic statistics. By the end of September, the operator had covered dozens more locations in rural areas of the Czech Republic with the fastest internet technology. Moreover, in three locations in Prague T-Mobile launched the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network offering even higher transmission speeds; the operator will soon offer devices supporting this technology.
In September, the fastest mobile internet was made available in the two last districts of Prague that had previously not been covered – Zbraslav and Lysolaje. T-Mobile’s LTE network now fully covers the Czech capital. “We committed to covering Prague with our LTE signal by the end of September and we have fulfilled our promise,” says Milan Hába, Vice President Category and Products at T-Mobile, adding: “We have also extended the LTE network to dozens more locations in rural areas and have thus taken an important step toward fulfilling another promise, namely that our fast mobile 3G and LTE internet networks will be available to 93% of the Czech population by the end of this year.”
By the end of September 2014, dozens more new locations in the Czech Republic’s rural areas had been covered with LTE technology from T-Mobile. The operator’s fast 3G and LTE internet access is now available to approximately 88% of the Czech population.
Additionally, T-Mobile launched LTE-A technology in three areas of Prague – Černý Most, Horní Počernice and Roztyly. This technology is based on the combination of two bands and offers theoretical maximum download and upload speeds of 225 Mbps and 50 Mbps, respectively. More areas will be covered with LTE-A during October. T-Mobile was the first operator to launch this technology in the Czech Republic at the end of June this year in Mladá Boleslav.
By the end of this week, the operator will start offering the first LTE-A-enabled modem, the HUAWEI Mobile WiFi E5786. In October, the portfolio of devices will be extended with two handsets supporting LTE-A technology, the Samsung GALAXY Alpha and GALAXY Note 4.
