Prague, May 14, 2020 – The first quarter 2020 has been challenging for all of us due to corona crisis. T-Mobile CZ focused on supporting both residential and business customers by its reliable services, offering unlimited data for free, enhanced TV offers, s or supporting NGOs or social services with connectivity and hardware. Moreover, the operator managed to keep the track and maintain the positive economic trajectory set in the last year, while proving how crucial, not only in such challenging times, integrated and highly reliable telecommunication services are. However, more essential impact of corona pandemic can be expected in following months.

Despite the emergency state, T-Mobile also continued in deployment of the nation-wide fiber network and reached monthly record in number of FTTH connections in March. In total operator connected 10,300 households in Q1, mainly in Prague, Mělník, Ústí nad Labem or Šumperk.
Mobile services: As of 31 March 2020, T-Mobile’s mobile services were being used by almost 6.3 million customers; 57% of the base are contract customers and 35% prepaid ones. The number of machine-to-machine SIM cards presents 8% of the base, growing y/y by 14% to 512,000.
Fixed broadband: In first quarter of 2020, fixed services, including xDSL, Pevný internet vzduchem (Fixed Internet over the Air), or Pevný internet do zásuvky (Plug-in Fixed Line Internet), were used by 350,000 customers; i.e. by 27.7% more than in the same period of 2019.
TV: T-Mobile TVs on IPTV or satellite platforms are used by almost 171,000 customers, (plus 69.3% compared to Q1 2019).

The operational results have been heavily influenced by the emergency state: people were using telecommunication services more intensively, to be in contact with their families and friends, to access the information needed, or to work and study remotely. The number of called minutes increased y/y by 9.9%, the number of SMS by 45.8% to 1.4 billion. The overall volume of data transmitted grew even more significantly: the data traffic using convergent services grew by nearly 60% y/y, the amount of the data transmitted only in mobile network more than doubled, compared to the same period 2019.

Despite the corona crisis, total revenues from mobile and fixed-line services including hardware sales totaled over CZK 6.8 billion which represents 3.1% year-on-year increase, in Q1 2020. The results confirm the company’s good performance and its position as the number-one operator on the Czech market.
