Prague, 19 June 2006 - The competition organized by T-Mobile not only for its customers at www.jaXmobilem.cz as part of the mobile etiquette project has come to a close. On 21 May, the participants had the final opportunity to describe their biggest blunder with a mobile phone in a maximum of 160 characters (i.e. one SMS). An expert jury, including Martina Kemrova (Head of External Communication at T-Mobile), Jitka Chocova (Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at T-Mobile), Eva Maskova (an editor of Katka magazine), Marek Kucharik (Editor-in-Chief of Yop! magazine), Stepan Mares (cartoonist) and, of course, the X family, has selected the winners of 300 attractive prizes out of plenty of creative SMS.
The winner is Josef Simo of Trutnov. He will receive an original print and a T-shirt with an illustration by Stepan Mares as well as a Nokia N70 handset for sending in his unforgettable blunder in a shoe shop. "Mobile phones have possessed us completely," smiles the absolute winner of the competition, quoting his winning SMS: "What is your number?" [in Czech, "number" is also used to refer to shoe size] asks the shop assistant and I start to dictate my mobile number before realizing that I am buying shoes...:-)
"We can no longer imagine our everyday life without mobile phones. They enable us to keep in touch with our family, friends and colleagues. The more we use mobile services, however, the more we should take care that our 'mobile' behaviour does not bother others," says Martina Kemrova, Head of External Communication at T-Mobile. The number of unique visitors to the mobile etiquette website has reached almost 12,000. The project called jaXmobilem, which was launched in cooperation with the cartoonist Stepan Mares on the first day of spring, illustrates in an amusing way how to use a mobile phone in a proper and considerate manner. An average of more than 100 new visitors view the www.jaXmobilem.cz website every day to study the Ten Mobile Commandments with the "X family" or test themselves on mobile etiquette.
The results of the test, which has been taken by approximately 3,000 visitors, show that mobile etiquette is not alien to Czechs. More than half of the respondents proved to use their mobile phones in a most discreet and considerate manner. At www.jaXmobilem.cz, you can also see the illustrations of the Ten Mobile Commandments by the cartoonist Stepan Mares, which can be downloaded or sent to friends as e-cards. And if you like the X family, you can order a T-shirt with pictures from their life.
