Prague, 25 August 2009 - All fans of Czech and Slovak music can look forward to two interesting projects that T-Mobile has prepared in cooperation with the Czech band Vypsaná fiXa and the Slovak band Horkýže Slíže. The new albums of both bands will be available for downloading at the t-music portal, the album of the Slovak band Horkýže Slíže also at tmusiccity.sk. The albums will be available for a price determined by fans based on the 'pay-as-much-as-you-think-the-band-deserves' principle. Music lovers can thus enjoy their favourite band's brand new songs as early as one month before their general release, without having to wait and for a price determined by themselves.
"We already tested a similar model of selling music in March in cooperation with the band Wohnout," says Petr Dvořák, Executive Vice President Marketing at T-Mobile, adding: "The 'pay-as-much-as-you-think-the-band-deserves' model proved a success, with 45,000 downloads of the entire Karton veverek album and 9,000 downloads of individual tracks from the album in just one month."
The latest albums of both bands bring a number of new ideas. Vypsaná fiXa recorded its album titled Klenot ("Jewel") in February and March in London. The album was engineered by Guy Fixsen (who worked with the likes of Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive to name just a few) and produced by Jan P. Muchow and Dušan Neuwerth with whom the band had successfully cooperated in the past. The album was mastered at the Metropolis studio in London under the supervision of Fixsen and Tony Cousins. The album will be released on 9 September 2009 at 9:09 a.m. sharp at the t-music.cz portal. Fans can thus download Klenot more than one month before its release in brick-and-mortar shops, which is scheduled for 10 October.
The tenth studio album of Horkýže Slíže is titled 54 dole hlavou ("54 head down") based on the unique sex position that the musicians were inspired to discover by the ancient Indian book of love, Kamasutra. The name of the pilot single - Ghandi Mahatma - also refers to India. The album will be available in digital format at t-music.cz beginning 1 October and will be released on a standard CD on 21 October.
What is the view of the bands on selling music using the 'pay-as-much-as-you-think-the-band-deserves' model? Márdí, Vypsaná fiXa's frontman says: "We believe there are still people, or at least some people, who understand that it takes a great deal of energy, time and money to record an album. If the album "gives" them something, maybe they will give us something in return, allowing us to record a new album."
"Horkýže Slíže has taken such a step in order to get closer to both their existing and new fans and are happy to give them a chance to decide on their own how much they want to pay for music," says Kuko, Horkýže Slíže's frontman.
However, T-Mobile did not only help release the two new albums in digital format but cooperates with both bands within a long-term music project - t-music tour. Vypsaná fiXa joined the project in 2007 when they launched the Fenomén ("Phenomenon") album. During the Vypsaná fiXa Fenomén Tour 07, the band's fans could download the track "Žeň koně" from the t-music PLAY! portal free of charge. The band is soon to head out on the Klenot Tour 2009, which will be kicked off in Prague on 23 and 24 September by two launch parties for the new album. Within this tour, the band will play concerts in 13 Czech towns, with the last date being played on 13 November in Jindřichův Hradec.
T-Mobile and the Slovak band Horkýže Slíže have also been cooperating for some time already, with this year's seventh t-music tour featuring this Slovak band. The t-music Horkýže Slíže tour will take 14 days and cover seven venues. The tour will kick off on 6 October at Ostrava's Garage club and will finish on 21 October by a launch party for the band's new album that will be held in Prague's Small Sports Arena. The band's fans can purchase concert tickets either on-line or using their mobile phones. The ticket price will be charged in their phone bill and tickets will be sent to their mobile phones in the form of an e-ticket that will be shown at the entrance to the venue.
A special offer has been prepared for subscribers to the BAV SE tariff plans who can enjoy free admission to any concert performed during both tours.
