VLADIMÍR KLEIN APPOINTED HEAD OF THE TECHNOLOGY DIVISION

Prague, 2 May 2013 – Vladimír Klein has been appointed to the position of Technology Director at T-Mobile Czech Republic effective 1 May. Following the departure of Frank Meywerk, Klein was charged with temporary management of the Technology Division. He will now be in charge of the entire technology strategy, planning, development and operation of the mobile and fixed networks, and development and support of IT systems.

Vladimír Klein (44) graduated from the Technical University of Košice in radio-electronics. He joined T-Mobile in 1997, working in IT Operations. Subsequently, he left for T-Mobile Netherlands, where he spent four years focusing on service-quality assurance. While being in charge of network operation and maintenance, he also participated in integration of operational activities within the Deutsche Telekom group. From 2008, he held the position of Vice President Operations and from 2012 the position of Vice President Network Development. 

During his twelve years with the company, he has participated in the planning and rollout of the 3G network, which has been the most efficient mobile network in the Czech Republic over the long term, modernisation of the 2G network, the successful introduction of high-speed mobile internet service and development of fibre-optic backbone networks. He has also cooperated on the development of other technologies; for example, he was involved in the launch of LTE City and introduction of HSPA42+ and has participated in including fixed voice services and DSL into T-Mobile’s portfolio. 

A native of Velký Folkmar, Slovakia, Vladimír Klein speaks fluent Czech and English in addition to his native Slovak. He is married and prefers to spend his spare time with his wife and two children – a nine-year old daughter and a seven-year old son. He enjoys skiing in winter and gardening in summer.
