Prague, 21 December 2012 – An amendment to the Value Added Tax Act will come into effect on 1 January. As a result, the value added tax on telecommunications services will change too, increasing from the current 20% to 21%. The VAT rate increase will impact the prices of services and tariff plans charged to customers. This minor change will be applied to all services, including the minimum monthly payment obligation pertaining to contracts upon the conclusion of which a subsidised device was purchased.
The VAT rate change will be fully reflected in most tariff plans: the basic price excluding VAT will remain unchanged and the rate increase will be reflected in the final price including VAT. To make the transition a little easier for customers, the operator has decided that in the case of certain plans currently on offer (e.g., S námi, Internet Komplet) and selected additional services (e.g., SIM card replacement) the original price including VAT will be preserved. The basic price excluding VAT will thus be decreased so that the final price remains the same for customers.
Prepaid Twist service
The operator wants to ease the situation for prepaid Twist card users too. The prices including VAT of the current most popular TWIST service – Našim – and the benefits under the Našim za dobití program will also remain unchanged. Prices of the other prepaid plans will be changed to reflect the new VAT rate. The price of the credit top-up vouchers will also be preserved.
Statements at the turn of 2013
Customers whose billing period is from 1 to 31 December will see the VAT rate applicable for 2012, i.e., 20%, on their bills. In the case of customers whose billing period extends beyond December 2012, the uniform new 21% VAT rate will be applied to their bills for the sake of clarity.
All customers will be informed of the changes by all available means – via SMS, in Statements of Services, Price Lists and leaflets. All information will also be published on the website at www.t-mobile.cz/zmenaDPH.
