Prague, 9 February 2006 - It is just one day before the Torino Olympics start but rumour has it that the spirit of the Games has not really captivated the Italians. In the Czech Republic, on the contrary, Olympic fever is beginning to sweep the nation. Those who are not travelling to Italy or taking two weeks off to watch the events will have all the news and most important information in the palm of their hands throughout the Games. All they need is a mobile phone. T-Mobile customers will find all information in a special section called "ZOH 2006" (2006 Winter Olympics) on the t-zones wap portal. Those who want to be continuously informed of the events in Torino can order SMS and MMS news sent directly to their mobiles.
Being at the centre of Olympic action has never been so easy. Those eager to know how many meters Jakub Janda has jumped, how the Czech ice-hockey team is crushing their rivals or how much ahead of the other skiers Kateřina Neumannová is no longer need the internet or teletext and do not have to wait for the TV news. T-Mobile customers just need to visit the Zprávy/ZOH 2006 (News/2006 Winter Olympics) section on the t-zones portal to receive complete information on all the latest happenings at the Games. iDnes.cz editors will make sure that all information is high-quality and up-to-date.
"Not everyone will have the chance to watch the Games on TV and thanks to t-zones, our customers will be able to enjoy the Olympics anywhere and anytime" says T-Mobile spokesperson Jiří Hájek.
In addition to the latest results from all sports disciplines, every visitor will find the following information on the t-zones portal:
SMS and MMS news: you won't miss anything important
The Olympics t-zones portal is not the only service to provide T-Mobile customers with information of the Games. Sports fans can order SMS and MMS news via the SMS/MMS Info service. They will thus receive information on the results of Czech athletes and daily overviews of the main events, results and gossip. Each SMS will be charged at CZK 2; a MMS costs CZK 8 (excl. VAT).
To order text news on all Olympic happenings, customers just need to send a SMS with +ZOH to 4616. Those interested only in news on Czech athletes must send a SMS with +CESI to 4616. Up-to-date information, including several documentary photographs in one MMS, can be ordered in a similar way - just send a SMS with +MMSZOH or +MMSCESI to 4616. Users will receive an average of four text or two multimedia messages per day.
In addition, there will be a special Olympic downloads section on the t-zones portal, allowing visitors to the web or wap site to download wallpapers and postcards featuring individual sports disciplines. There is also a range of sports games, for example Playman Winter Games. Visitors will find all this under "Pictures and Games".
Fans can also use the Caller Tunes service to show support for Czech athletes. At t-zones or www.uvitacitony.cz, customers can choose the Czech national anthem, as well as the national anthems of Slovakia, Russia, the USA and Italy.
