Prague, 15 October 2007 - The fifth annual festival of small theatre companies will begin on Wednesday, 17 October, in the Žatec theatre. As part of this festival, one performance will be held in Louny on Thursday. The festival is organized by the Kamarád-LORM organization, which provides social services to disabled people. And disabled people form the basis of the ten theatre companies that will perform at this year's festival.
"The theatre festival brings the worlds of the disabled and healthy people closer together and supports mutual respect and tolerance," says Martina Kemrová, Head of Corporate Communication at T-Mobile. "Thanks to this event, the disabled can more easily find their place in society."
This is the second year that this festival has received a financial contribution from the T-Mobile Fund. This year, it received CZK 45,000 through the Community Foundation of Euroregion Labe. "The total cost of the festival amounts to approximately CZK 145,000," said Kateřina Frondlová, Director of the Žatec Kamarád-LORM organization.
"Theatre helps the mentally disabled to find their social position. It is their job thanks to which they can present themselves to us," explains Kateřina Frondlová. "Conversely, healthy people can learn about the world of the disabled. I always say that the aim of the festival is natural sharing of information."
The first two Žatec performances held in the morning hours have been reserved by schools and the performances held in the afternoon are intended for the public. On the following day, there will be another performance for schools. Audiences can look forward to a musical, scenic dance, musical performances and other small theatre forms. One performance lasts a maximum of 18 minutes. "Tickets for the afternoon performances can be bought in the Žatec theatre. I will be very happy if the auditorium is full," said Kateřina Frondlová.
The Kamarád-LORM organization provides social services and basic nursing care to mentally disabled people and to people with combined impediments from the age of three. At present, it provides care to 33 of its own clients.
This is the third year that various projects have received financial contributions from the T-Mobile Fund. This year, a total amount of CZK 6.13 million will be awarded to 99 projects. Funding intended for the Louny region is managed by the Community Foundation of Euroregion Labe, which selected 32 projects from among 119 applications from this region to receive a total amount of CZK 1.7 million.
