Prague, 21 June 2012 – This year T-Mobile employees again had an opportunity to nominate projects for the
T-Mobile Fund grant program, which enables them to mediate assistance in the places where they come from, live or work. A total of 141 grant applications were submitted and the amount of CZK 2 million will ultimately be distributed among 27 projects.
It was by no means an easy job for the independent evaluation committee composed of representatives of the non-profit sector, public administration, local authorities and the media to choose the projects. Out of 141 applications, the committee had to choose the highest-quality projects, which, at the same time, best suited the thematic focus of Healthy Planet – healthy community and healthy environment. The most important criterion was active involvement of the given employee in the preparation or implementation of the project.
This year marks the first time in the Fund’s seven years that ideas using mobile technologies have appeared in the program: e.g. the Kanárci (Canaries) project measuring air pollution in the Ostrava region and transmitting the collected data via a mobile application to a public website, and the Brno-based association Autonapůl using mobile access for car-sharing.
The 27 supported projects include, for example, restoration of cultural and religious monuments in the community of Mrtník and creation of pools to support amphibian populations in Střelná u Košťan. The quality of the projects has been improving from year to year. Individual consultations provided by the VIA Foundation, the expert partner of the program, have also been of great help.
All organisations that will receive support this year from the T-Mobile Fund for Employees as well as from the
T-Mobile Fund for Regions, for which another CZK 2 million has been allocated, will meet at a ceremony to be held at the end of the year.
Over the seven years of existence of the T-Mobile Fund for Employees, the company has distributed more than CZK 16 million and supported 231 projects all across the Czech Republic.
