Prague, 17 June 2011 – This spring, T-Mobile announced the sixth annual T-Mobile Fund for Employees program. All T-Mobile employees had the possibility to recommend an interesting project of a non-profit organization with which they are involved and to receive a grant of up to CZK 100,000 for such organization. A total of CZK 2 million will be distributed among 27 projects.
Projects that stood the biggest chance of receiving a grant were particularly those promoting a responsible approach to the places where we live and efforts to enhance the lives of people we share such places with. Like last year, this year’s program focused on “Healthy Planet” topic, while adding a new aspect – more intensive involvement of T-Mobile employees themselves. One of the conditions was the relationship between the organization and the respective employee (place of residence, birth, work, etc.) and his or her active involvement in the project (participation on preparatory works or implementation).
“Employees are more interested in recommending such projects that are beneficial not only for the organization and community concerned, but for also for them personally. Thanks to their involvement, they will be better able to assess how beneficial the supported activity was,” says Petra Pavičová, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at T-Mobile.
A total of 132 projects applied for grants within the program this year. A nine-member committee comprising representatives of the media, public administration and non-profit organizations selected the 27 best projects that will receive a grant. One of the criteria assessed was the long-term contribution and subsequent sustainability of the projects. Symbolic cheques will be presented to the applicants and representatives of the organizations at a ceremony to be held on 24 August 2011 at T-Mobile’s headquarters in Prague.
The selected projects address the specific needs and opportunities in the location where they are to be implemented and actively involve the general public and volunteers. In many cases, they will contribute to the cultural and social development of the communities and often extend also to the area of health and safety of local residents. The grants from the T-Mobile Fund for Employees will, for example, help to renovate theatres in Stráž nad Nežárkou and Řevnice and the Beheading of St. John the Baptist Church in Chabry, clean up the Orlice River, build a volunteer centre in Brno and revitalise the quiet zone in the centre of Krásno, to name just a few of the projects.
The grant program of the T-Mobile Fund for Employees is organised in cooperation with the VIA Foundation. During the past six years of cooperation, the operator has distributed more than CZK 14 million in the non-profit sector, supporting more than 200 projects.
