Prague, 11 October 2007 - Fenomén, the fourth studio album of Vypsaná fixa, a punk-rock band from Pardubice, was released on 24 September 2007. The album, which was produced by Dušan Neuwerth (Tata bojs, Kryštof), has been very well received by critics and labeled "different", "mature" and "well-developed."
"For a long time, Fixa gave the impression of being perpetual adolescents, but now they sound like a grown-up band of thirty-year-old musicians who know what they want and have something to say. As for the arrangements, Fenomén is definitely their most interesting album... and even though Fixa's sound is more polished, it doesn't mean that they have gone soft. On the contrary, Fixa has moved from strictly punk songs to a much more sophisticated style, which required a great deal of courage from such an established band." Filter magazine (September 2007)
"Finally they have put out a real album, not another 'in-studio concert'. A refined sense of humor, "dry as the rattle of a skeleton's bones" both in terms of lyrics and the music - an excellent use of polyphony, a wide range of dynamic changes, a jazz intermezzo, perfectly mixed shades of the guitar sound..." Music magazine (October 2007)
"With their fourth album, the 'Pardubice Pixies' are sailing out against the tide. The new producer, Dušan Neuwerth, has strengthened the masts, reinforced the foundations and painted the walls in interest shades. The result is a Phenomenon." Report magazine (October 2007)
At the end of October, Fixa will set out on a nationwide club tour organized in cooperation with t-music. The key reason why an independent band which is, in terms of its sound as well as opinions, closer to the underground than to the commercial mainstream decided to accept the operator's offer is the connection with the www.stage.cz portal. This portal allows unsigned musicians to present their music and offers them a number of benefits, including the possibility to appear as opening acts for established bands. And Vypsaná fixa is the first such group to take bands from the www.stage.cz portal along on its tour. For each of their twelve concerts organized as part of the VYPSANÁ FIXA FENOMÉN TOUR 07, Vypsaná fixa will select a musician or band from the portal's portfolio performing in the region where the concert is to be held.
"There are four of us in the band, so each of us is in charge of three cities and is now listening to the profiles on the portal to select a band he likes. For example, our drummer Pítrs found a hip-hop artist in Ostrava whom he likes," says Márdi, Vypsaná fixa's frontman.
At www.stage.cz, there is a new video for the Dezolát single, composed of clips from the Jiří Vejdělka movie "Václav", in which the members of Vypsaná fixa played themselves.
At t-music PLAY! digital music store, all fans of this band from Pardubice can find its complete catalogue, and starting from 10 October, the first 150 fans to visit the website can obtain the Fenomén album free of charge.
The track "Žeň koně" was selected as the advertising spot for the album and the tour. The band, in cooperation with t-music, is now working on a video for this track. T-Mobile customers can now download "Žeň koně" free of charge - more information can be found at www.t-music.cz/vypsanafixa, or by sending a SMS with FIXA to 4616.
Fenomén was launched on 10 October at Prague's Retro Music Hall. Fixa will kick off its tour in three weeks at Ostrava's Bumerang club and will play the last date at Prague's Lucerna.
"We are very much looking forward to it. It will be our biggest tour so far. And the good thing is that the tickets for all concerts will only cost one hundred crowns," says Márdi.
The price, however, does not apply to the subscribers to the BAV SE tariff plan, who will get in free. And all fans can look forward to other pleasant surprises at the shows.
