Prague, 9 September 2020 – Beginning today, T-Mobile Czech Republic will not charge any fees for calls to 1221, the information hotline of the Public Health Service of the Czech Republic. By making the line available free of charge, the operator wants to help again in the fight against the coronavirus and make the access to important information from public health authorities easier to all customers.
“Unfortunately, we were not informed about the purpose of the hotline in advance. After the whole matter has been clarified by the media, we immediately decided to make calls to the information hotline free of charge,” says Petr Jonák, Corporate Affairs Officer at T-Mobile.
The Association of Mobile Networks Operators also started negotiations with the state that were aimed at better understanding the system of the state’s information hotlines and at clarifying the role and forms of involvement of the mobile sector in providing necessary information to Czech residents. “It is also essential to resolve the issue of interconnection charges with the provider of the 1221 hotline, as we currently pay these charges even though the calls are free for our customers,” adds Jonák.
Calls to the 1221 hotline are free of charge for all customers, whether they are contract customers or users of the prepaid cards.
