Prague, 25 July 2012 – The T-Mobile Partnership Program has reached a respectable milestone. At the end of June, the number of SIM cards using M2M tariff plans within partnership solutions reached 200,000. These solutions offer a whole range of services from fleet management, remote/mobile data collection and security monitoring of buildings and vehicles to location tracking services and mobile payments. This was a fitting occasion to mark the T-Mobile Partnership Program’s tenth anniversary this year.
“Interest in M2M solutions keeps rising, on the part of both business partners and end users,” says Milan Hába, Vice President Category & Product Management at T-Mobile, adding: “Over the past year alone, we managed to increase the number of active SIM cards by 30%.”
Fleet management, security monitoring of buildings and location tracking of persons and vehicles have long been among the most popular partnership solutions. The products offered are designed not only for business customers, but also for households, and the range of possible uses is continually being expanded. “Now we are focusing for example on healthcare (e/m-health), smart utility metering and road safety (eCall),” adds Milan Hába.
The origins of M2M solutions date back to 1998, when the then Paegas offered the first Data&SMS tariff plans designed for machine-to-machine communication. In 2002, cooperation with external companies whose solutions used the T-Mobile mobile network was fully launched.
Currently, fifty-four companies offering more than 100 products and services using T-Mobile’s GSM/3G network participate in the Partnership Program. The solutions focus on location tracking of persons and pets, security monitoring of buildings and vehicles, mobile and remote data collection, SMS applications and remote access to offices.
