Prague, 30 March 2009 - T-Mobile is launching an interesting new service for users of instant messaging. Starting tomorrow, 31 March, customers will be able to use the four most popular instant messaging services - ICQ, MSN, AOL and Yahoo! - on their mobile phones. These services can be used with any of T-Mobile's internet tariff add-ons. This means that users can be connected anywhere and anytime for prices starting at CZK 117.81 incl. VAT per month for contract customers and CZK 39 incl. VAT per week for users of the Twist pre-paid service.
T-Mobile customers no longer have to wait to get to their PC to exchange messages with their friends or family members. Now they will have access to their favorite instant messaging services through a Java application wherever they are. Customers can choose from four popular IM services:
These services will be available for download in the Games and Applications section at t-zones or they can be ordered by sending an SMS with "AP TMIM" to 5005. Users need to have an active account with one of the above-mentioned services, as it is not possible to register a new user from a mobile phone.
"The service can only be used with one of our internet tariff add-ons. Customers can thus be sure that they will use instant messaging at clearly defined prices," says Martina Kemrová, Senior Head of Corporate Communication at T-Mobile.
Contract customers may choose one of three data tariff add-ons - Surf+, Surf&Mail+ or Internet+. For prices starting at CZK 117.81 incl. VAT, they will be able to use their mobile phones not only to browse the internet but also to chat with all their friends and family members. Users of the Twist pre-paid service may use the Twist Surf+ package for CZK 39 incl. VAT per week. Customers can thus get two services for one price. This favorable offer is available until 30 September 2009.
In addition, new contract users of data tariff add-ons may enjoy the first month of surfing and chatting free of charge. Twist customers may use mobile internet access free of charge for the first two weeks. These special offers can be used until 30 June 2009.
Mobile instant messaging will be available first to owners of the following mobile handsets:
The range of IM-enabled phones will be continuously extended. The updated list is available at www.t-mobile.cz/IM.
The mobile-phone version of popular services allows the use of almost all the features offered by the PC versions, i.e. receiving and sending of messages, emoticons, set-up of one's own tags expressing, for example, the user's mood, creation of groups of contacts or searching and adding friends to the contact list. The mobile version has additional features, such as automatic log-in, incoming-message alert when the client is switched-off and sound/vibration set-up.
