Prague, 25 August 2008 - Summer and holidays tend to be the times of the year that are richest in experiences that we should share not only with our loved ones. T-Mobile has therefore decided to open its internet SMS gateway to everybody. Starting on 26 August, free text messages can be sent from this gateway to the T-Mobile network. The mobile operator is also introducing a new service that has not been available in the Czech Republic to date - a free MMS gateway. Only T-Mobile customers will be able to use this web interface for sending multimedia messages. At the same time, T-Mobile will offer enhanced features of the SMS gateway to registered t-zones users.
The newly opened SMS gateway is available to everybody at www.t-zones.cz, allowing any visitor to the portal to send free text messages to the T-Mobile network. The maximum length of the text message is 160 characters and an SMS can be sent to only one recipient. Customers who do not wish to receive text messages from the public gateway may block their delivery via the My T-Mobile service.
T-Mobile customers can also continue using the SMS gateway that is accessible after logging in to t-zones. Via this gateway, users can write messages as long as five standard text messages and send them to as many as 20 phone numbers at the same time. A "phone list" of the most frequently used numbers has been prepared for the convenience of users. Contrary to the public SMS gateway, the sender's phone number will be displayed on the mobile phone of the message recipient. Registered users will be able to check on the web the history of their text messages and delivery reports, or to choose from among a range of message templates.
In connection with the opening of the SMS gateway, the existing limits on free text messages under the MobileBox and MobileBox Easy services are cancelled. Starting on 26 August, users of these services will no longer be limited when writing text messages intended for T-Mobile customers.
Unique new service - MMS gateway
Beginning tomorrow, t-zones will feature a completely unique new service: the first MMS gateway in the Czech Republic. Registered t-zones users will thus be able to send free picture messages to the T-Mobile network directly from their computers, pleasing their friends and loved ones with, for instance, photos from their travels, pictures of a new puppy or snapshots of the latest fashions in shop windows.
If sending a picture message to another network, the user will pay the price according to his/her tariff plan. One such message may contain up to three multimedia files - picture, video, sound or animation. Just as with the SMS gateway, registered users can use features such as the list of the most frequently used contacts, MMS history or various templates. The maximum size of a picture message is 280 kB; bigger files will be compressed to fit within the above-mentioned limit.
