T-Mobile Olympic Run: different runners, different tracks, one idea

In three months, on Wednesday, 24 June, the first T-Mobile Olympic run will start at fifteen places in the Czech Republic on the occasion of the worldwide Olympic Day event. The Czech Olympic Committee and T-Mobile will bring to sports fans the greatest Czech running event during which all runs will start at the same time. Those wishing to participate in the runs can now register online.

Three categories of runs and an individual challenge
Since 1987, running competitions for all age categories have been organised in the Czech Republic on Olympic Day, which commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee. This year, these activities will be given unified form and a common registration system.

Participants can choose any of the gold, silver or bronze category runs or take part in the T-Mobile Olympic Run by means of an individual challenge. “Those unable to participate in any of the mass events will have an opportunity to run their own race in any location through the Endomondo mobile application,” says Milan Vašina, T-Mobile’s Managing Director.

“Running is a global phenomenon that does not require much equipment and is tremendously fun for people. The advantage of the T-Mobile Olympic Run will be the choice of place and format,” explains Marek Tesař, Marketing Director of the Czech Olympic Committee. Jiří Kejval, President of the Czech Olympic Committee adds: “This concept has very real potential to surpass even the world’s largest running events in terms of the number of participants. The key thing is, though, that the entire country has fun running at the same time.”

Registration now underway
Participants can register online now via www.olympijskybeh.cz; all they need to do is fill in a simple form. The starting fee can be paid in advance by bank transfer or by mobile phones using m-payment.

A part of the proceeds will be donated to charitable activities of the Czech Olympic Foundation, which supports socially disadvantaged young athletes aged 6-18 who are prevented from participating in sports by a lack of money. Each runner can make a charitable donation within the starting fee.
