T-Mobile is the first operator to enable payments for mobile application purchases via statements and mobile credit

  • Convenient payment option at the Windows Phone Store and BlackBerry App World
  • The solution can be used by contract customers and prepaid Twist card users

Prague, 7 December 2012 – T-Mobile is the first operator in the Czech Republic to introduce payments for mobile application purchases directly via Statements of Services for contract customers and via mobile credit for prepaid Twist card users. Beginning yesterday, the m-payment option can be tested by BlackBerry owners*; for users of Windows Phone handsets, the new service will be available this weekend. The only condition is to have the m-payment service activated.

“I trust that customers will appreciate this new service and use it extensively,” says Zdeněk Spurný, Senior Head of Category & Product Management at T-Mobile, adding: “Users who were concerned about entering their bank card number or about other payment methods can now pay easily via their Statements of Services or the amount will be deducted from their mobile credit.”

Beginning today, payments for applications purchased at BlackBerry App World are available to BlackBerry users. The principle of purchasing remains the same; only when selecting the payment method, customers need to choose the T-Mobile m-payment service, which is automatically available to all non-business customers. Contract customers will find the amount paid in their Statements of Services in the “Payment Services” section. In the case of prepaid Twist card users, the amount is deducted from their mobile credit immediately.

From this weekend, this simple payment method can also be used at the Windows Phone Store, now offering more than 120,000 applications. “We are delighted that T-Mobile was able to respond to the possibility of linking our Windows Phone Store with its own billing system so quickly and be the first Czech operator ever to offer a convenient payment method to its customers without the need of using a bank card in such record-breaking time,” adds René Keyzlar, Operator Channel Manager at Microsoft.

For security reasons, the maximum value of an m-payment transaction is CZK 1,500; the daily limit is set at CZK 3,000 incl. VAT. Detailed information about the m-payment service, its activation and methods of use is available to all customers at My T-Mobile.

“We would like to offer this payment option also to users of other operating systems or social networks in the near future,” concludes Zdeněk Spurný.

Note: *The service is automatically available to customers using the BlackBerry Internet Service. Users of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server need to obtain their administrator’s consent for the activation of the service.
