Prague, 30 January 2013 – Beginning 1 February, T-Mobile customers will have a new possibility of how to be alerted of their incoming e-mails via text messages. The E-mail do SMS (E-mail to SMS) service, which will replace the current Postm@n, will ensure that 160 characters of an e-mail message are delivered to the addressee in the form of a text message. The new service is completely free of charge; all customers need to do is activate it via My T-Mobile and then set up e-mail forwarding in their e-mail accounts.
“The current form of the Postm@n service was no longer technically convenient. Therefore we have decided to discontinue it and replace it with the new E-mail do SMS service,” says Milan Hába, Vice President Category & Product Management at T-Mobile, adding: “The new version will bring higher quality and much faster delivery of e-mails to customers than the current service.”
Activation is very simple. Customers just need to select the E-mail do SMS option at My T-Mobile and specify the e-mail address from which they want to be alerted of incoming e-mails. Then it is necessary to set up only forwarding of e-mails to 603123456@sms.t-mobile.cz, where 603123456 is the customer’s telephone number. The first 160 characters of each delivered e-mail will be forwarded free of charge to the telephone number in the form of a text message within 30 seconds. Similarly as with Postm@n, it will also be possible to use the so-called night filters, preventing customers from being disturbed by SMS alerts at night.
The procedure described above applies both to new customers wishing to activate the service as well as to existing users of the Postm@n service, who were informed of its discontinuation in advance. The current option of e-mail delivery via Postm@n will thus be replaced by 160-character SMS alerts.
