T-MOBILE INCREASES DSL SPEED USING BONDING TECHNOLOGY

• Higher availability of transmission speeds of 250, 100 and 50 Mbit / s
• For new and existing customers

Prague, December 3, 2020 – As of today, T-Mobile is improving its fixed internet via DSL for its customers through so-called bonding. It enables doubling of transmission speeds on metallic lines, so the availability of connections with a capacity of 250, 100 and 50Mbit/s will increase. Nowadays, when the demand for higher internet speeds is growing, customers can thus rely on T-Mobile's fixed internet without any worries.

“This year has shown that fixed internet with a speed of 20 megabits is simply not enough. It's great that thanks to bonding, we now have the opportunity to offer new speeds of 100 or 50 Mbit for almost 1.5 million addresses, ie. households or companies in the Czech Republic,” says Zdeněk Spurný, manager of Home Services at T-Mobile, adding: “This means that a faster DSL connection will be newly available to up to a third of customers compared to the past.”

To achieve double speed, it is necessary, if technically possible, to use two metal cables (two twisted pair cables) instead of one for internet connection. A device called Terminator will take care of combining the transmission capacity and thus also the speed from both cables, which will always be professionally installed by a technician between the socket and the DSL modem. Terminator is free of charge and the customer does not pay any monthly rent or other fee for it.

T-Mobile will provide DSL bonding to both new and existing customers. The operator plans to address them with an offer to switch to a higher speed. In addition, until the end of the year, customers can take advantage of an extraordinary offer – fixed internet for CZK 299 per month for the first half of the year.

Even for DSL with the use of bonding, T-Mobile offers modems with a guaranteed connection, which enable immediate connection before the installation of the fixed internet and at the same time serves as a backup in the case of any DSL outage.
