Prague, 16 December 2010 – T-Mobile has successfully completed its first year of free PR seminars organised for non-profit organisations. Representatives of foundations and civic associations have learned how to communicate with journalists through which information about their interesting projects can reach the general public. The four series of seminars, which were attended by 106 organisations, were held by T-Mobile as a response to the current needs of the non-profit sector. T-Mobile has been cooperating with this sector on a long-term basis, e.g. via the T-Mobile Fund grant programme and the “One Day For Your Good Deed” volunteering project.
“There are other ways to help than to provide financial aid, such as by sharing know-how,” says Martina Kemrová, Senior Head of Corporate Communication and spokeswomen at T-Mobile, adding: “Our team consists of various specialists with many years of professional experience in PR. We thus decided that it would be useful to share our knowledge. It is a pity that there are so many interesting non-profit projects that no one will ever hear of. Not even the sponsors.”
In cooperation with the VIA Foundation, T-Mobile has organised four free public relations workshops at its Prague headquarters. Workshops were presented also by experienced journalists, Tomáš Feřtek (formerly of Reflex), Michal Musil (MF DNES) and Jiří Závozda (former member of the Lidové noviny editorial staff), who provided participants with practical information about how to communicate with the media, how to draw the attention of journalists in a few sentences and what to avoid in communication. As a bonus, a professional photographer was present and took free photos of the non-profit organisations’ representatives for their promotional materials and internet presentations.
“Interest in the offered PR seminars was much greater than we expected. Only a few hours after the registration was launched, all seminars were fully booked. People did not hesitate to come from the other side of the country just to attend a seminar,” says Petra Pavičová, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at T-Mobile, adding: “We will certainly continue such activities. The final evaluations conducted by the participants revealed that this kind of aid is very effective for the non-profit sector, where there is a lack of funds for acquiring PR know-how. At the same time, by organising such events our company can make use of the potential of its staff, who are willing to share their knowledge and experience.”
