Prague, 29 August 2012 – With the beginning of a new school year, T-Mobile has good news for all existing and new users of internet access: beginning on 1 September, T-Mobile will gradually increase transmission speeds within the Internet na cesty (Internet at Home) and Internet ve firmě (Internet in Business) tariff plans without increasing their prices. Where technically possible, maximum speeds will be 20 and 40 Mbps respectively. Existing users of ADSL internet access can also make use of the opportunity to switch to the faster VDSL technology.
“T-Mobile has seen ever increasing demand for its fixed-line internet access. In the first half of the year, nearly three-fourths of last year’s volume of data flew through fixed-line networks,” says František Mala, Marketing Director at T-Mobile, adding: “I am glad that we are bringing another improvement to our customers to enhance their internet experience both at home and at work.”
For existing users of fixed-line VDSL internet access, the maximum transmission speeds will be increased gradually starting on 1 September. Download speeds available within Internet na doma/ve firmě Standard will reach up to 20 Mbps, within the Premium variant up to 40 Mbps. The upgrade will be automatic; it is not necessary to request it and users will be informed of the change by e‑mail.
Higher transmission speeds will naturally be available also to new contract customers. If VDSL technology is available in the location where they wish to install the connection, they will benefit from higher download speeds. When purchasing a 2v1 (2in1) bundle, which combines a T-Mobile voice plan and Internet na doma Standard without a fixed-line, they can have fixed-line internet access for prices starting at CZK 399 incl. VAT.
Tariff plan | Max. speed* until 31 August 2012 | Max. speed* from 1 September 2012 |
Internet na doma Standard | up to 16/1 Mbps | up to 20/2 Mbps |
Internet na doma Premium | up to 25/2 Mbps | up to 40/2 Mbps |
Internet ve firmě Standard | up to 16/1 Mbps | up to 20/2 Mbps |
Internet ve firmě Premium | up to 25/2 Mbps | up to 40/2 Mbps |
Note: The maximum speed depends on the availability of VDSL or ADSL technology.
Additionally, existing customers using ADSL technology in a location where VDSL is available can upgrade to the faster internet access free of charge, without any increase of the monthly fee they are currently paying. All they need to do is call the T-Mobile Customer Centre or visit any T-Mobile shop. A prerequisite is a VDSL-enabled modem. For example, when extending their contract, customers can purchase the ZyXEL P-870HN-53b modem for CZK 499 incl. VAT; the basic price is CZK 1,799 incl. VAT.
