Prague, 27 January 2005 - For three years in a row, T-Mobile Czech Republic recorded the highest increase of the customer base. At the end of 2004, T-Mobile provided services to a total of 4.36 million customers, which represents a year-on-year increase of more than 400 thousand customers. The operator further reinforced its leadership position in the area of contract (post-paid) customers, increasing their number by 24.3% to the current total of 1.1 million. Its market share in terms of customer numbers remains at 40.4%, while the overall penetration in the Czech mobile market amounts to nearly 105%.
"It would not be enough just to say that we are pleased with the results we have achieved," T-Mobile's Managing Director Roland Mahler comments on the positive results, adding: "The fact that the highest number of customers have chosen T-Mobile for three years in a row proves that we are able to offer them what they want and need."
For the third year in a row, T-Mobile achieved the highest year-on-year customer additions; during these three years, the customer base increased by more than 1.5 million. In 2004, the highest customer additions were recorded in the second and fourth quarter. In June 2004, T-Mobile acquired the millionth contract customer. By the end of the year, the number of contract customers further increased by more than 100 thousand to reach the current total of 1.1 million customers. The number of customers using the pre-paid Twist service increased by 6.4% to 3.25 million.

Since 2002, T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. has been part of the T-Mobile International group. In 2004, T-Mobile International increased its customer base in majority shareholdings by 8.1 million from 61.0 million to 69.2 million customers. Mobile companies (T-Mobile Hungary, T-Mobile Croatia and Mobimak) in which Deutsche Telekom has a majority stake via its investments in foreign telecom operators account for additional 8.1 million customers. Net customer additions at T-Mobile International were 1 million higher than last year, which counts for the same growth of about 13% as in 2003.
