Prague, 31 August 2010 - According to the available information, T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. has become the first company in the Czech Republic to successfully undergo the external Compliance Management System audit.
The goal of the audit performed by an international "big four" audit firm was to assess whether the company has the right processes which can sufficiently detect law-infringement risks and whether it has measures in place which will minimize risks in this area in the future.
Infringement of laws and regulations involves not only financial risks but also the loss of the company's good reputation and that of its employees. The main goal of the audit is to minimize risks which could significantly harm T-Mobile's position on the market. As the United States and Australia are the most highly developed countries in the area of compliance, the audit adhered to requirements set by Transparency International, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and Australian Compliance Standards issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
"We are very happy with the audit results. We have withstood this difficult test without any reservations on the part of the auditors," says Roland Mahler, Managing Director of T-Mobile, adding: "Adherence to competition laws and rules, or fair play, is an essential principle of our business. It may not be the quickest way to success but from the long-term perspective, it is the only possible one."
T-Mobile has committed itself to clear and transparent business activities and strong resistance against corruption and fraud. The company has issued a Code of Conduct for all of its employees and set up firm rules with respect to, e.g., conclusion of contracts, provision of presents and benefits or invitations to social events. Special attention is paid to the monitoring of relationships with public officials.
T-Mobile is striving to become the leading company in terms of transparent and legal business activities in the Czech Republic, thus contributing to the cultivation of the country's business and civil environments.
T-Mobile Czech Republic, a member of the international telecommunications group Deutsche Telekom, has almost 6.2 million customers, the number-one operator in the Czech market. T-Mobile is an integrated operator: in addition to telecommunications services, it offers comprehensive ICT solutions not only for companies, but also for other organizations and individuals. It provides outstanding services in the high-speed network, which was proved repeatedly by benchmark testing performed by umlaut (former P3) with Best-in-Test seal.
T-Mobile Czech Republic places emphasis on taking a responsible approach to the environment and society. It adheres to fair business practices, helps beneficial applications and services to see the light of day, supports non-profit organizations, small businesses and individuals, and lends a helping hand whenever crisis situations arise. The company’s employees serve as volunteers in many places across the entire Czech Republic.
