Prague, 14 November 2002 â?" Today, T-Mobile customers can start using the Video MMS service allowing them to send video recordings from their mobiles. T-Mobile is further extending its portfolio of services which can be used by customers during their holidays or business trips abroad. With GPRS roaming you can send MMS containing photos plus audio commentaries or texts and also short video recordings from fourteen countries in the world. Moreover, the same price will be charged for sending MMS from abroad and from the Czech Republic. In all those countries, customers can also use the GPRSpeed service allowing them five times faster Internet access and reduction of data communication costs. T-Mobile is the only national operator to offer its customers the GPRSpeed service.
â?śWith the MMS service, our customers will be able to send picture messages right from downhill runs and cosy mountain cottages in the Czech Republic and abroad during this winter. The service is available in nearly all European countries and the USA. The advantage of the service is the opportunity to communicate oneâ??s experiences immediately at the price of only CZK 10, which is lower than the price of sending an ordinary postcard. The fact that we are able to offer this service to our customers quickly also shows the advantage arising from our membership in the international T-Mobile groupâ?ť, says JiĹ?í Hájek, spokesman of RadioMobil.
T-Mobile GPRS roaming
T-Mobile is further extending the number of countries in which the advantages of the GPRS roaming service can be used: today, the service is available in the networks of 15 operators in 14 countries in the world, recently in the ORANGE network in France. Thanks to GPRS roaming, T-Mobile customers can use a wide range of services based on data transmission via GPRS, e.g., sending and receiving MMS (photos and video recordings) or the GPRSpeed service. Countries where T-Mobile GPRS roaming is available can be seen on the map at the end of the press release.
Video MMS
As of 14 November, T-Mobile is offering its customers the Video MMS service which allows you to send video recordings via mobile phones. Customers can either have the software, which is necessary for the service, installed free of charge in the T-Mobile retail shops, or download it on www.t-mobile.cz/video. The web page also includes instructions for installing the application in mobiles. Nokia 7650 is the first mobile supporting Video MMS. Video recordings may be sent via MMS to an e-mail address and, in the future, to MMS-enabled phones.
Customers who receive video recordings sent via the Video MMS service to their e-mail address can play it via an appropriate player. The player can also be downloaded on www.t-mobile.cz/video and the web page also includes instructions for installation.
The new Video MMS service allows the recording, saving, playing, and sending of video sequences of maximum 95 kB and of approximately 15 seconds. Customers will be charged CZK 10 (incl. 5% VAT) per video recording sent, received video recordings are free of charge.
MMS from abroad
Multimedia messages (photos with audio commentaries or video recordings) are sent in the same way both from abroad and within the T-Mobile network in the Czech Republic.
Within the special offer valid at least until the end of this year, customers will be charged the same price of CZK 10 (incl. 5% VAT) for sending MMS from abroad and within the T-Mobile network in the Czech Republic.
GPRSpeed, GPRSpeed Plus
GPRSpeed (or GPRSpeed Plus) is intended for all contract customers who have activated GPRS service. The service allows customers faster Internet access via GPRS. In comparison to the standard GPRS transfer, it is now possible to reach a transmission speed, which is five times higher. GPRSpeed (or GPRSpeed Plus) is based on transparent data compression, and its use brings customers, besides higher transmission speed, considerable cost savings thanks to the decrease in the data transferred.
Customers can freely choose the GPRSpeed type they want to use. No activation or monthly fees are charged for the use of the service. Customers are only charged for the volume of the data transferred via GPRS. More information can be found on www.t-mobile.cz under Datové služby.
