T-Mobile and Sony Ericsson launch Robbie Williams special edition W800i Walkman

  • First time a mobile device is offered featuring a new unreleased track by a global artist aligned with their album launch
  • New unreleased Robbie Williams track 'Don't Stop Talking' pre-installed
  • T-Mobile international head sponsor and lead brand for Robbie Williams' activities in association with Sony Ericsson until December 2006

BERLIN, GERMANY, October 7th 2005 - T-Mobile and Sony Ericsson today announce the launch of the Robbie Williams special edition W800i mobile phone that will feature an exclusive previously unreleased full track 'Don't Stop Talking'.  In stores October 21st in Germany and Austria and in Czech Republic on November 1st, the new W800i will give Robbie Williams' fans a chance to have a special mobile phone to hear and celebrate their favourite artist in a unique and exciting way.

Pre-installing a new unreleased track on a mobile phone is an innovative collaboration between an artist, a handset brand and a mobile operator and is a first-of-its-kind offering with such a global artist. The offering further demonstrates how the mobile music experience can be inline with an artist's album launch or to extend exposure to their music.

"I was spoiled for choice when I chose my album tracks. This one is very special to me so I am glad that my fans will hear it on this phone," comments Robbie Williams.

In addition to the new unreleased full track, the special edition W800i, exclusive to T-Mobile, will also feature a 20-second behind the scenes video clip and 2 wallpapers pre-installed on the phone. This truly exclusive content will enable Robbie Williams fans to personalize their mobile phone with material they will not have access to through other digital music providers.

The Sony Ericsson W800i was launched in August as part of the new Walkman Phone family and is the first in a series of phones that double as music players displaying the familiar Walkman logo. Combining a phone, a digital music player and a 2 mega pixel camera all in one device, the W800i comes with enough memory to store around 125 music tracks or 10-15 full length CDs on the 512 MB PRO Duo memory stick, which comes with the phone.  When the phone is switched on, the music player can play music for 15 hours and up to 30 hours when switched in the flight mode - a mode allowing you to enjoy your music even on an airplane. An upgrade from the 512 MB memory stick to 2 GB is available, which allows for 600 songs to be stored.

The orange and white phone diminishes the need for carrying multiple devices - consumers can now enjoy an MP-3 player, a phone and a digital camera all in one device. The Robbie Williams material embedded on the special edition of the W800i will give fans a head-start on downloading their favourite music tracks.

Recently, Robbie Williams and T-Mobile announced an 18-month partnership together in association with Sony Ericsson, which is enabling fans to have unique access to their favorite artist. As international head sponsor and lead brand, T-Mobile is providing fans with a chance to hear Robbie Williams content from his much anticipated new album before it is released and to personalize their phones with the global mega-star's ringtones, realtones, sound logos and wallpaper.

T-Mobile provided the first opportunity for this must-have mobile music content in September when customers enjoyed pre-released mobile music download material and video from the first single 'Tripping' before it was released to other digital music providers or shown on TV. The next exclusive pre-release period will be content from five tracks before the new album arrives in stores on October 24th.
