T-Mobile is continuing its cooperation with the Czech Olympic Team, as the operator reported earlier, and will accompany it in August to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. A new application dedicated to the 2016 Summer Olympics has been developed to provide detailed sports coverage also to those fans who will not be able to make it to Rio. The app also features interesting interviews and the popular fan section, where users can compete to win seven exclusive dinners or phone interviews with selected athletes. The operator is also preparing an Olympic village at Lipno, more details of which will be announced later.
“We have always endeavoured to make life easier and more pleasant for people with modern technologies. Therefore, we are happy to enable fans to enjoy every fantastic experience that the most watched sporting event of the year brings, thanks not only to our mobile TV, but also by means of the official Czech Olympic Team mobile application which we have again prepared for all fans, regardless of which operator they use,” explains Jan Stanko, Vice President Marketing Communication at T-Mobile.
“Athletes love all new products, innovations and technologies, which also contribute to achieving top performance. We are happy that our partner, T-Mobile, helps us be in touch with fans thanks to modern technologies,” says Jiří Kejval, President of the Czech Olympic Committee.
The app follows on the successful 2014 Winter Olympics application, which ranked first in the Marketing Inspiration category of the Mobile Application of the Year competition and was downloaded by 250,000 fans. The new 2016 Summer Olympics application is currently available free of charge for Android devices; its release for iOS devices will follow in the coming days. The app features a complete list of the Czech Olympic Team athletes, including nominations, exclusive interviews, articles, detailed news coverage of individual disciplines, the latest news from the venue, competitions, videos and information about the members of the Czech Olympic Team, as well as other unique content from behind the scenes at the Olympics.
Users can also participate in the Dinner with an Athlete competition to win one of seven dinners with top athletes. All users need to do is register via e-mail or a Facebook account and they will automatically take part in the contest. Every month, one participant will win one dinner; the winner can also take one other person along as a guest. Another attractive competition is Athlete on the Line, which is intended exclusively for T-Mobile customers. Customers just need to register their phone number in the app and ask a question for selected athletes, who will then personally answer the most interesting questions by phone. Audio recordings of the interviews will also be accessible to other fans in the application.
The application now offers a countdown to the opening of the Olympics and every day it publishes three new interesting facts about the Czech Olympic Team. The main page features a list of the updates which users can intuitively adjust according to their preferences. A review of the application will be aired during the Applikace programme in the late afternoon on 27 February on the Prima Cool television channel or it can be watched on the programme’s website at www.applikace.cz.
