RadioMobil Presents New Services
Prague, 26 September 2001 â?" From 1 October RadioMobil will offer its customers two new location-based services. The first of them, Paegas Navigator, will allow Paegas customers to search for various types of objects located in their proximity, without having to enter their location. The other one, Paegas SMS Locator, will enable authorised people to track persons and vehicles equipped with mobile phones with a Paegas Profi SIM card, using any mobile phone. In contrast to the existing Paegas Locator service, Paegas SMS Locator is designed not only for corporate clients, but also for the general public.
Paegas Navigator
Paegas Navigator makes orientation in unknown surroundings easier for mobile phone owners around the whole Czech Republic. Based on the customerâ??s request, Paegas Navigator will look up a specific object in the neighbourhood, e.g. a pharmacy, hospital, cash machine, cinema, car repair centre or hotel. In total, the user can obtain up to nine replies to one inquiry. After the user has selected the item of the searched-for object in the Paegas Menu, the location of the user will be found automatically and information about the required object will be sent to him or her as an SMS. The service is thus very easy to use, similarly to Paegas Info.
â?śRadioMobil is the first operator in the Czech market to offer a service based on the mobile location-finding technology to all users of its network. As opposed to the services of a number of other European operators, Paegas Navigator is able to find the phoneâ??s location itself, the user does not need to enter it him/herself. The mobile phone thus changes from an ordinary telephone into a comfortable information terminal that brings the customer really useful information,â?ť says Robert Chvátal, Marketing Director and member of the Board of RadioMobil.
Paegas Navigator allows to search for various kinds of surrounding objects. SMS with the reply to the customerâ??s inquiry contains the name of the object and its address. Some items also include a phone number and adiditonal information (e.g. opening hours). In the Navigator menu these objects are divided into six categories: Help, Services, Paegas, Cars, Entertainment and Sport. The number of items offered by Paegas Navigator will continue to grow in the future.
The complete technical solution of the Paegas Navigator service has been developed by RadioMobil. The contents of the individual categories are supplied by six companies at the moment â?" PJSoft, s.r.o.; Global Sport Marketing Agency, s.r.o.; Computer Press, a.s.; Position, s.r.o.; EuroNet.cz, s.r.o. and E-media, s.r.o.
All Paegas customers, including Twist users, who own a card supporting this service can use Paegas Navigator. The present Paegas customers can have their SIM cards exchanged at Paegas Retail Shops for a CZK 400 fee. New customers will obtain a SIM card supporting the Navigator service upon request for the standard price.
The price for sending the request for search of the object is charged as an SMS message according to the customerâ??s tariff. The price of each reply is CZK 2 (excl. 5% VAT).
Paegas SMS Locator
Another new service is Paegas SMS Locator. This service, allowing to find location of mobile phone owners, is based on the same technology as Paegas Locator. However, the location is not displayed on a computer screen but is delivered to the customerâ??s mobile phone as a text message.
To be able to use Paegas SMS Locator, the phone whose location is being found out must be equipped with the Paegas Profi SIM card. The location of the phone can be only found out if the respective phone is switched on. The operation of Paegas SMS Locator is thoroughly secured against unauthorised location tracking. The person wishing to find out the location of a particular telephone must know, in addition to its phone number, also the LPIN code. The LPIN is an eight-digit number that must be preset by an authorised person on the Profi SIM card. Without knowing this code, the card of the phone whose location is to be found out will not send the requested information on the location. After meeting these conditions, the user just sends an SMS in the required format to 5727.
When using Paegas SMS Locator, the user will pay CZK 8 for one SMS with information about the found-out location of a phone for the first to two-hundredth location finding during one billing period, CZK 6 for the 201st to 500th location finding, and after the 501st request the service will cost the customer as little as CZK 4. TWIST owners will pay CZK 14.80 incl. VAT for each answered inquiry (These prices are valid from 1 October also for the existing Paegas Locator service).
As Paegas SMS Locator is very easy to work with, it will find use not only in the professional areas connected with road transportation but it will be certainly also popular with parents, allowing them to find out where their children are any time.
Goodbye Message
A third new service available to Paegas customers from 1 October is the Goodbye Message service. It is an extended version of the existing Welcome Message service. Goodbye Message is designed for all Paegas customers who travel abroad, leaving the Paegas network. When crossing the Czech border, or after switching off their phones in a foreign country for the first time, the customers will receive an SMS message with important information for making and receiving calls abroad.
