RadioMobil Donates over Half a Million to Childrenâ??s Neurology at Thomayerova Hospital

Prague, 8 October 2001 â?" A newly reconstructed outpatient childrenâ??s neurology department was officially opened today at Faculty Thomayerova Hospital in Prague. Thanks to a project called â?śThe Fair Has Come to Town,â?ť the austere rooms of the department have turned into a colourful and cheerful world, as seen through the eyes of children and adults. RadioMobil has contributed 500 thousand crowns to the reconstruction through the Archa Chantal Foundation.

â?śWe are aware that a friendly environment can make the hospital stay much more bearable for children. A modern, comfortable interior and a playful creative solution will help little patients cope with the stress from hospitalisation. However, due to a considerable lack of money in the health-care sector, the limited funds cannot be invested in improving the hospital environment and are preferentially used to buy medical equipment and devices. Therefore we have been cooperating with the Archa Chantal Foundation for several years and we are happy to help children feel better while in hospital,â?ť says JiĹ?í Hájek, spokesman for RadioMobil.

The outpatient childrenâ??s neurology department has been rebuilt and its interior got a new creative design. The whole department now looks like a traditional fair with caravans, animals and games, full of colours, with an atmosphere of mystery. Cheerfully coloured walls and floors and new lights have made the rooms much cosier. Interactive toys and a new playroom will help children pass time in hospital. Some art elements, created at the doctorsâ?? request, can even be made part of examination procedures. There is now a separate room available for mothers with babies to give them privacy and new bathrooms have been installed. The total reconstruction costs have reached 2.5 million crowns.

The experts at the childrenâ??s neurology department provide a complete range of neurological treatments. They treat children of all age groups, from newborns to eighteen-year olds. Thanks to a treatment system that has taken many years to develop, their patients include children from Prague as well as from all other regions of the Czech Republic.

RadioMobil has already supported a number of projects through the Archa Chantal Foundation. In May this year the company donated 1.5 million crowns to reconstruct a childrenâ??s psychiatric ward in Brno-Bohunice.
