In one moment, probably the largest number of balloons ever will fly into the air at NámÄ?stí Svobody in Brno. RadioMobil, together with the Archa Chantal foundation, gave the balloons to children who brought them to NámÄ?stí Svobody. The little balloons are supposed to greet all sick children in the Czech Republic and let them know that their friends are thinking of them. However, the event, called â?śA Day with Paegas,â?ť merely represents the festive peak of all humanitarian activities prepared for children by RadioMobil and the Archa Chantal foundation.
At the beginning, foundation president Chantal Poullain and foundation director Miloslava VepĹ?eková received from spokesperson Tereza Kakosová a symbolic cheque for
CZK 1,500,000, to pay for the renovation of the Childrenâ??s Ward of the Brno Psychiatric Hospital. â?śThe improvement of the environment of this hospital has a higher meaning, as mentally ill children are being treated here,â?ť explains Miloslava VepĹ?eková. â?śThanks to RadioMobil, the premises, until recently gray and depressing, which could hardly evoke the pleasant atmosphere necessary for healing mentally ill children, will now change into an environment that will address children of all age groups very positively. Both the interiors and exteriors will resemble a seagoing ship and the doctors, nurses and little patients will represent its crew â?" the general atmosphere should become part of the treatment process.â?ť
The Bohunice hospital is the only medical facility in the South Moravian region with beds for children. Not only are children with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or depression hospitalized here, but also children with neurotic disorders related to family problems, an inadequate school load or drugs.
â?śThe Bohunice hospital project is not the only activity through which our association is trying to help the younger generation â?" for example, together with Archa Chantal we have contributed to the renovation of the childrenâ??s admitting ward in the Prague Motol hospital, which changed into a circus tent,â?ť explains Kakosová. â?śIn addition to assisting sick children, RadioMobil also contributes to childrenâ??s education in schools and various childrenâ??s institutions. At present, a project titled â?śPaegas for Your Future,â?ť our response to the fact that computer equipment is lacking in schools and selected public institutions, is well under way. This year, the first stage of this project began and thanks to this, hundreds of children are already becoming acquainted with computer technology.â?ť
Over the next three years, RadioMobil will donate children thousands of PCs and laptop computers in a total value exceeding CZK 20 million. Not only schoolchildren, but also those from childrenâ??s homes, are now working with computers donated by RadioMobil. These computers have a high performance, with a Pentium processor and a network card, allowing the user to connect to the Internet, and containing the Microsoft Windows 95 system.
