RadioMobil Donated CZK 1.5m to Childrenâ??s Hospital in Brno Bohunice
- Paegas contributes to the reconstruction of childrenâ??s hospitals in the Czech Republic
- Last year RadioMobil donated nearly three million crowns to Czech hospitals
On 23 May a gala opening of a childrens psychiatry ward took place in Brno Bohunice. RadioMobil contributed CZK 1,500,000 to its reconstruction through the Archa Chantal Foundation. Thanks to the project called "Full Steam Ahead" the unfriendly hospital environment turned into a Mississippi steamboat.
"The improvement of this hospitals environment is double as important because mentally ill children are treated here," explains Miloslava VepĹ?eková, director of the Brno branch of Archa Chantal Foundation. "The premises which had been grey, depressing and which could hardly invoke a pleasant atmosphere needed for the recovery of mentally ill children, will thanks to RadioMobil now change into an environment that will appeal to children of all age groups. The interior as well as exterior will look like a ship deck and the doctors, nurses and little patients will be part of the crew - the whole atmosphere should thus become a part of the treatment process."
The Bohunice hospital is the only psychiatric hospital in South Moravia which has an inpatient ward. Not only children with real mental disorders such as schizophrenia or depression are hospitalized here, but also children with neurotic disorders related to family problems, inadequate pressure at school or drugs.
"We are aware that there is a lack of money in the health-care system and therefore it is preferentially used for purchasing new equipment," says JiĹ?í Hájek, RadioMobils press spokesman. "We have decided to choose also another way and, in addition to financial assistance with the purchase of new equipment, we want to help reduce the stress from unknown environment and separation which children experience in hospitals. We have been co-operating with the Archa Chantal Foundation for several years and our company has contributed to a radical change in the appearance of a number of childrens health-care institutions."
Peagas generally invests large means in health-care institutions - in 2000 alone it was nearly CZK 3 million. In the long term, Paegas co-operates with the Fourth Internal Clinic of the First Medical Faculty at Pragues Karlovo námÄ?stí, the Švejcar Foundation, JedliÄŤka Institution, Childrens Oncology Endowment Fund of the Federation of Parents and Friends of the Deaf and the KĹ?ižovatka foundation. Through the Archa Chantal Foundation, RadioMobil contributed to the reconstruction of the whole childrens reception area and dialysis unit at the Motol hospital.
