According to tradition, the spirit of Christmas is never quite complete without the Christmas tree on Old Town Square in the centre of Prague, together with the Christmas market. This year, the market was officially opened by the Mayor of Prague, Jan Kasl, in conjunction with RadioMobil a.s., thus launching Czech Christmas.
Right on Old Town Square, the sale of Paegas services in a "mobile" shop was also launched as part of the Christmas market. As a result, visitors to the Christmas market can buy a Twist set as a Christmas present at prices from 4,499 Czech crowns (including VAT). As well as one of a range of nearly ten mobile telephones, each set includes a SIM card with the very latest SIM Toolkit technology and a start-up credit of 400 Czech crowns, the whole of which the recipient can use on calls immediately. In addition, each Twist set contains an extra gift - an original Swiss Swatch watch.
Managing IPB and EB bank accounts from a mobile telephone From December,
RadioMobil is launching the sale of new Paegas SIM Toolkit cards that
enable customers to run banking software for as many as ten different
banks. Almost anyone with an account with a bank in the Czech Republic
will be able to manage his or her money without having to visit the bank.
(Until now, this facility has been available only to customers of Expandia
Banka.) The latest Paegas banking SIM card enables customers to conduct
account transactions in complete security via the display of a GSM mobile
telephone. Thanks to the software, customers can select one of ten banks
and arrange to have the banking software activated at their selected branch,
thus enabling them to conduct bank account transactions. In addition to
the banking software, standard SIM card features currently include the
Paegas Info software, space for 200 telephone number entries, space for
ten SMS text messages, space for five operator service numbers and space
for 25 fixed dial numbers.
"RadioMobil is the very first operator in the world to offers a
banking SIM card of this nature," said Tereza Kakosová, press spokeswoman
for RadioMobil a.s. Customers can currently choose from two banks
that have concluded agreements with RadioMobil. The first was Expandia
Banka; and now, from the beginning of December, InvestiÄŤní a poštovní
banka will start a pilot project, offering banking services via mobile
telephones using SIM Toolkit technology.
The Paegas network is fully prepared for Y2K
The Paegas GSM network is fully prepared for the change of the year from
the numbers 1999 to 2000 (Y2K). The entire infrastructure (even though
the oldest components were purchased only three years ago) has undergone
a demanding series of tests that have confirmed the systems readiness
for the year 2000. At the same time, RadioMobil is demanding that
all its suppliers are prepared for the change in the calendar. "In
the interests of our trading partners and customers, we are determined
to ensure that all our systems and equipment are wholly compliant with
the year 2000, and it is our highest priority to verify that they are,"
said Klaus Tebbe, Managing Director of RadioMobil a.s.
Paegas Internet Call offers connections to more than 50 countries
around the world
Starting in December, it will be possible to use the Paegas Internet
Call service - international connections via the Internet at preferential
call rates - for connections to more than 50 countries around the world.
No other telecommunications company in the Czech Republic offers preferential
connections via the Internet to so many countries. In addition, the service
has been made even easier to use, so that calls via the Internet can now
be made from the Paegas GSM network by dialling just one number. Before
dialling a telephone number in the international format (with 00 at the
beginning), the distinctive two digits 42 should be dialled. For instance,
for calling the USA, it is necessary to dial: 42001yyyxxxxxxx.
