On Sunday 19 March there was a significant traffic increase in the Paegas network, which was bigger by almost a half than usual. Owners of prepaid Paegas Twist cards were especially active, increasing the number of minutes called by almost two thirds compared to usual figures. "Almost every one of our more than million customers joined the celebration on the ocassion of extending the number of Paegas service users to more than a million and called his/her friends and acquaintances for half the common rate," the gazetter of the RadioMobil Company Tereza Kakosová said.
The RadioMobil Company registered the millionth customer on Thursday 9 March 2000, and confirmed its position as the operator of the most dynamic GSM network in the CR. The offer of half price calls for all customers nationwide is an absolutely unique event in the CR, which was not offered by any operator before RadioMobil. "We decided for this unique event because it is practically impossible to determine who exactly the millionth customer was and furthermore we do not want to give advantage to individuals as others do, but we want to thank all our clients by this step," Tereza Kakosová specified before Sunday 19 March.
However, the number of users of Paegas services is still increasing. RadioMobil is the leading operator in the area of innovations, and is always ready to offer interesting services to customers as one of the first in the world. At the same time, it does not limit itself to small groups of people who invest into expensive devices, but prepares such solutions so that really all clients can use them. An evidence from recent time is for example making WAP services accessible for owners of Paegas Twist prepaid cards or the automatic activation of data nad fax services for all customers. At the same time, only in the Paegas network owners of GSM mobile phones can use some today already very popular services such as Paegas Asistent, Paegas Info Plus or Paegas Info Profil, because no other operator in the CR offered such services to its customers so far. "Until now we have succeeded in choosing the right technologies that later became a standard - I can mention for example services based on SMS, SIM Toolkit, GSM Banking - and we do our best to keep it up for the future, which is evidenced by the present implementation of the GPRS technology in the whole Paegas network," Tereza Kakosová remarked.
RadioMobil Incorporated is the operator of the GSM network called Paegas, which today covers over 99 % of the Czech population and 99.8 % of first-class roads. Customers can use a Paegas GSM mobile phone in networks of 170 operators from almost 80 countries of the whole world. In the half of March 2000, more than 1 000 000 customers used the services of the Paegas GSM network, into which RadioMobil invested 6 billion crowns only during 1999, a billion more than the other operator. Paegas hence became the leading operator on the Czech market by the number of new activations, when it acquired more than 500 000 new customers in 1999 as the first in history of the Czech mobile market and it acquired more over 125 000 new clients during the first weeks of 2000.
