Prague, 14 April 2004 - Pavel Vácha, Vice President Internal Audit at T-Mobile, was elected President of the Czech Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA). At the CIIA conference held in Slaný at the end of March, a nine-member Council was elected. Pavel Vácha obtained 161 votes out of the 176 voting members present, and he was then unanimously elected President of the Institute by the CIIA Council.
The newly appointed President has been an active member of the CIIA since its establishment in 1995. In 2000 - 2001, he held the office of Vice President of the CIIA, appeared as a speaker at various professional conferences and worked as a lecturer for the CIIA. In 1997, he was the first member of the CIIA to obtain the professional, globally accepted certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He is also a member of the CIA Committee which is responsible for the organization of this certification in the Czech Republic.
Pavel Vácha has been working as Vice President Internal Audit at T-Mobile Czech Republic since 1999, when he established this department. At present, he participates in profiling the internal audit within T‑Mobile International. He is the Secretary of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of T-Mobile Czech Republic and the Head of the Job Evaluation Committee. He is also responsible for Risk Management at T-Mobile Czech Republic.
He began working in the field of internal audit at Philips Electronics B.V. where he performed internal auditing in Austria, Hungary and the Baltic countries, with direct responsibility for internal audit in the Czech Republic and Russia. He also gained valuable experience while working in sales and marketing.
The Czech Institute of Internal Auditors is a professional organization of internal auditors. As a guarantor of standards related to internal audit professional practice and control systems, its main objective is the promotion and support of development of this relatively young profession in the Czech Republic. The CIIA also functions as a professional authority in respect of company administration and management.
