Paegas no longer 603 but 604 as well

• Nearly 130,000 clients have signed on with RadioMobil since January 1, 1999
• Half a million customers now using GSM Paegas

More than half a million customers now use GSM Paegas services, since 130,000 have joined on since the beginning of the year. This dynamic growth led RadioMobil to begin offering its services at a new dialing prefix, 0604, at the beginning of June. "Until now, the public has associated only the number 603 with Paegas services. Now were adding 604, and we hope that all of our customers, whether they use 603 or 604, will be just as satisfied as they have been up to now," said RadioMobil press spokeswoman Tereza Kakosová. Since the beginning of 1999, the number of mobile-telephone users in the Czech Republic has increased by some 240,000, or 25 percent. Of those, nearly 130,000 people chose Paegas from among the three existing mobile-network operators in the Czech Republic. "We have a full 34 percent more customers now than at the beginning of this year," Kakosová added. More than 1.2 million residents of the Czech Republic have mobile phones today, which equals market penetration of nearly 12 percent. Every eighth or ninth person in the country owns a mobile telephone. "We are clearly the leading operator in terms of services offered and innovative technology, and winning the GSM Associations award for the most innovative GSM operator in the world is further proof of that. And now were moving into the no. 1 spot on the Czech market in terms of activating new customers," said Kakosová. RadioMobil, a.s. is the operator of the GSM network called Paegas. Its largest shareholders are Eeské radiokomunikace a.s., with 51 percent, and the international consortium CMobil, which holds a 49 percent stake. CMobil comprises the largest mobile-communications operator in the world, T-Mobil, Italys TIM, and PVT, TMP and SKS. The Paegas GSM network today provides coverage to 96 percent of the Czech population. Customers can take their Paegas GSM mobile telephones to 65 countries around the world and utilize the roaming services of 126 operators. Some 500,000 customers were using Paegas GSM services as of the end of May, 1999.
