Paegas Internet Call: Better and faster international connections at advantageous prices

Paegas Internet Call service is back after a break of almost six months. All users of Paegas services, including mobile telephone users with Paegas Twist pre-paid cards, can now make calls using this advantageous and quality connection via the Internet. â?śLast July, we created a sensation on the Czech and international telecommunications markets, when we became the first operator of a GSM network to offer our customers connections via the Internet,â?ť said Klaus Tebbe, Managing Director of RadioMobil a.s., speaking at a press conference.

The service, offering connections to selected European countries at CZK 9.50/min. and to other countries at CZK 12.90/min., attracted a wide spectrum of customers after the launch last July. Its successful introduction, during which an important role was played by the Czech representatives of the consortium Global One, contributed to the success of RadioMobil at the international conference in Cannes, when it was named Best GSM Network Operator in the World in the Field of Technology. The Paegas Internet Call service immediately earned several awards in the Czech Republic as well. For connection using the Paegas Internet Call service, the customer has merely to press the number 42 for connection to one of the countries in the Europe group or 44 for connection to the countries in the world category, followed by the appropriate international dialling code and telephone number. â?śIn co-operation with Global One, we have implemented a number of important changes. First, we have made the service available to users of Paegas Twist pre-paid cards. Second, we have added Slovakia to the list of countries where it is possible to call using Paegas Internet Call services. Third, we have extended the Europe category of countries to include not only Slovakia, but also the USA (including Hawaiian Islands) and Canada, so that connections to America cost the same as calls to European countries. Hence, the group is now known as Europe, USA & Canada,â?ť said Marketing Director Robert Chvátal, outlining the main changes since the first launch.

â?śWe are the world leader in the field of technology, principally due to the fact that we have achieved a high degree of success in â?śpackagingâ?ť complex technologies, and on that basis we have been able to offer our customers a range of user-friendly services. Paegas Internet Call is the perfect prototype of the combination of complex technology with ease-of-use. The appeal of the service was confirmed by the level of interest in calls via the Internet shown by our customers between July last year and the end of February 1999,â?ť said Klaus Tebbe. He continued: â?śOur service arrived as a trail-blazer on the Czech market. No one else has come forward with such a simple solution as ours, because the only precondition to be able to use Paegas Internet Call services is to own a GSM mobile telephone and to have access to the Paegas GSM network.â?ť

â?śAlthough we terminated the Paegas Internet Call services at the end of February on the basis of the decision of the Czech Telecommunications Office, we have made use of the break in the service to carefully assess the way the service ran and to prepare the re-launch. Now we are perfectly prepared and we are able to offer the service to our customers once more. This time the quality and speed of the connections will be incomparably higher,â?ť explained Robert Chvátal. â?śI expect that the competition will be watching us closely, because calls via the Internet have attracted huge interest among the public, who are waiting with baited breath for the re-launch of the Paegas Internet Call service.
