Paegas Customers Have Been Able to Call Even From Prague Underground Since Friday, March 19, 1999!

  • The pilot project was launched on March 19, 1999 at 02:00 a.m. and it covers three most important underground stations
  • Three years ago, RadioMobil was the first company in the Czech Republic to initiate the Prague underground coverage project.
Since today, all users of GSM mobile telephones have been able to establish and receive calls in Prague underground space within the frame of test operation. The GSM signal will be available at three stations during the first stage: I. P. Pavlova, MĹŻstek and Muzeum, i.e. at places with the greatest traffic and it should be spread to other underground stations in the future. â?ťIn 1996 i.e. almost three years ago, RadioMobil was the first telecommunication company in the Czech Republic to present the Prague underground coverage concept within the frame of tendering procedure for the second GSM license. Other Czech operators had been dealing with mobile communications for five years at that time and they had not presented any similar concept or even coverage implementation to their customers,â?ś explained Klaus Tebbe, General Director of the RadioMobil company.

Both Czech operators â?" RadioMobil and EuroTel â?" worked together on Prague underground coverage this time. â?ťOur cooperation proves that the coverage issue is no longer competitive advantage or distinctive factor between GSM operators in the Czech Republic. For this reason we intend to focus on maintaining our position of the worlds leading operator in provision of the state-of-the-art services, which bring user comfort to Paegas customers,â?ś added Klaus Tebbe.

Underground coverage is not matter of course even abroad. â?śOur company has invited the other operator for the project realization in order to reduce costs connected with the underground coverage. Cooperation between RadioMobil, the other operator and Home Office resulted in this important project,â?ś stressed Tereza Kakosová, RadioMobils press spokesman and she continued: â?žThanks to this project, the Czech Republic has again proved that it belongs among the worlds leading countries in the area of mobile communications. Mobile telephone owners can call from underground only in several towns in Europe.â?ś
