Only Users Of Paegas Services Can Use GSM Banking

  • GSM banking services now offered by Expandia Banka and IPB, ÄŚSOB will start providing them soon
  • Clients appreciate the simplicity of using the service, not limited by time or place, and absolute safety
  • More than 500 thousand users of Paegas services own phones supporting GSM banking services
  • Nowhere else in the world so many people have a bank in their mobile phone

So far, RadioMobil does not have a competitor in the area of GSM banking on the Czech market, because it is the only operator offering a simple administration of bank accounts via GSM mobile phone to more than million clients. The possibility to control a bank account easily, anytime and anywhere is offered by Expandia Banka and IPB. ÄŚSOB will allow it to its clients within a few weeks. "Thanks to Paegas, the Czech market of mobile communications is the most developed in the world. No one else can boast of such a wide application of the SIM Toolkit technology as we do. Nowhere else in the world so many users have a bank in their mobile phone as in the CR, and that´s just the beginning. Further hundreds of thousands clients wait for their bank to start offering GSM banking too," the marketing director of the RadioMobil Company Robert Chvátal said.

"Banks see in the GSM banking services a great potential too. For our customers, more than 500 thousand of whom own a mobile phone supporting banking services, ask them when their bank will provide this service too. Now it is two banks, the third one will follow within several weeks and we are finishing negotiations with other banks," Robert Chvátal added. "About 50 thousand of our customers have purchased Paegas banking cards so far, which shows their enormous interest in this service."

Since the GSM banking services work on the SIM Toolkit standard base, which is supported practically by all mobile phone manufacturers, using banking services via GSM is not a problem for users. Customers of the RadioMobil Company including owners of prepaid cards can hence get a banking SIM card, on which they get recorded an application, allowing the control of the account via the menu of a mobile phone, in a selected bank. As one of the first operators in the world, RadioMobil introduced GSM banking services already in mid-1998. Now it is offering next generation banking SIM cards, on which customers can get recorded an application in a selected bank.

Banking services using the SIM Toolkit application have several advantages: it is enough to own a phone supporting SIM Toolkit (now more than a half of RadioMobil´s customers fulfil that), the user can use them anytime and anywhere (also abroad), controlling is simple (all actions are synoptically sorted in a menu) and everything is absolutely safe (apart from common security according to GSM standards, all banking data are secured by the Triple DES system with a length of 56 bits). "If the customer has a credit card and GSM banking, he practically does not have to visit the bank, because he can arrange everything only with the aid of a mobile phone and a card. Money transfer in GSM banking is even simpler and much faster than filling in a bank order," the gazetteer of the RadioMobil Company Tereza Kakosová remarked.

"We have been offering the GSM banking services to clients since two years and the number of users is growing rapidly. So far there is not any more comfortable way of fully controlling your bank account anywhere and anytime with preservation of absolute safety," the marketing director of the RadioMobil Company Robert Chvátal said, and added: "So far, there is no other solution in the whole world that would offer such services to users as we offer in GSM banking, providing a sufficient degree of safety."

RadioMobil Incorporated is the operator of the GSM network called Paegas, which today covers over 99 % of the Czech population and 99.8 % of first-class roads. Customers can use a Paegas GSM mobile phone in networks of 170 operators from almost 80 countries of the whole world. In half of March 2000 more than 1 000 000 customers used the services of the Paegas GSM network, into which RadioMobil invested 6 billion crowns only during 1999, which is a billion more than the other operator. Paegas hence became the leading operator on the Czech market by the number of new activations, when it acquired more than 500 000 new customers in 1999 as the first in the Czech mobile market history and over 125 thousand new clients during the first weeks of 2000.
