Prague, 18 March, 2008 - Today, three companies, Research in Motion, IBM and T-Mobile, are introducing an innovation in the area of corporate mobile applications. As of today, T-Mobile customers will be able to use BlackBerry along with Lotus Notes 8 in the Czech language, enabling them to obtain a quick and secure solution for working with e-mail, shared calendar or company contacts either in the office or off-premises. Customers who buy the BlackBerry terminal equipment may also download the BlackBerry Professional Software application free of charge. Once installed on the e-mail server in a company, it synchronizes all messages and other data.
The offer also includes a free user's license; other ones can be ordered, up to thirty supported users per installation. BlackBerry Professional Software is a simplified version of the standard BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). It is much easier to install and administer; however, all of the well-proven features of the full-value solution are retained, including strong security and ITpolicy support. This solution is convenient mainly for small and medium-sized companies as it facilitates and reduces the cost of BlackBerry implementation. Once a quantity limit is reached, it is possible to carry out a full BES upgrade.
"T-Mobile has been offering BlackBerry to its customers since 2005. The IBM Lotus Notes 8 platform support and the option of a free download of the BlackBerry Professional Software server application now significantly extend the range of companies which it may serve as a valuable aid. We are pleased that our company is the first to offer it to our customers in the Czech market," says Pavel Dolejš, Vice President Non-Voice and VAS Sales at T-Mobile Czech Republic.
"The Lotus Notes 8 solution, now available in the Czech language, brings in many significant enhancements. The most visible one is a modern client design with the option to send quick messages and get connected to other company applications. Therefore, Lotus Notes 8 will become an indispensable tool for any and all corporate users of groupware tools," says Tomáš Netřeba, acting SWG Manager of IBM Czech Republic.
BlackBerry uses the new version of Lotus Notes 8 and offers full integration of the personalized working environment, including instant messaging, with business applications. The IBM Lotus platform places emphasis on supporting mobile work and co-operation while maintaining high security. Thanks to the BlackBerry support of Lotus Quickr and Lotus Connections, the Lotus Notes 8 application turns mobile devices into fully integrated work tools. Customers can use their e-mail, plan appointments and work with various tools from anywhere and at any time. Lotus Notes 8 is now also fully localized into the Czech language.
"BlackBerry is a wireless communications solution for mobile professionals, small and mediumsized enterprises, and for everyone who want to handle their business and private email quickly and easily while on the move. BlackBerry was devised in such a way as to bring its users success at work and in their personal life. In addition to basic services, corporate users can use a number of additional features such as a calendar, internet and intranet access, and access to other company data. By integrating the product with the IBM Lotus platform, we provide a comprehensive and secure solution for modern companies," says Ulf Baltin, Director for CEE at RIM.
