New in August: GPRS Can Be Used in Paegas Network

  • GPRS can be used in Paegas network
  • New infochannel will look up channels for children

From the beginning of August, Paegas customers can make use of the advantages offered by the high-speed data transmission technology GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). Its main advantage is the fact that the customer pays only for the transmitted data, not for the time of connection. â?žThanks to GPRS the internet will become mobile every sense of the word, and the Paegas network will at the same time pass the milestone of the 2.5 generation of mobile networks, whose representative is exactly the GPRS technology,â?ś explains JiĹ?í Hájek, Corporate Communication Manager of RadioMobil. â?žWe expect that our customers will quickly learn to use the mobile internet connection as well as a whole range of other innovative services that RadioMobil offered them in the past. The data transmission speed in this case can be up to 40.2 kb/s. In a very short time Paegas GPRS will be a competitor of the ISDN connection.

Every user who will connect to the internet, intranet or WAP via a Paegas telephone that supports GPRS will be able to access information more conveniently than before. Paegas GPRS allows a permanent on-line connection without the customer having to dial an access server number before each data transmission. Moreover, the transmission speed is several times higher than with the classic data transmissions in the GSM network.

To access the network, it is necessary to have the APN set up correctly (Access Point Name â?" a parameter defining which services the user is going to access). Paegas offers its clients four different APN connections: APN Internet for internet access, APN Profil for ClickProfil access and information at RadioMobilâ??s website, APN WAP for wap site access; for the customers who have concluded a framework agreement with RadioMobil also offers a secured access to their corporate intranet via a special APN.

At the beginning of August, RadioMobil will offer the first phone that supports GPRS â?" Motorola Timeport 260. During September the customers will be able to choose from the offer of other phones.

RadioMobil is ready to offer GPRS roaming. From 1 August, customers will be offered GPRS roaming in the D1 network of the German T-Mobil.

Customers who will want to use Paegas GPRS can take advantage of two tariffs: the first of them â?" GPRS Basic â?" is without any monthly fee and is suitable for those who will use GPRS mainly for browsing wap sites, the second one â?" GPRS Pro â?" with the monthly fee of CZK 199 is designed for active internet users.
