Prague, 3 September 2012 – T-Mobile is continuing to expand HSPA+ 42 technology in its 3G network. Starting on 1 September, this technology will also be newly available in Brno. A total of 191 transmitters will offer the inhabitants of the South Moravian metropolis and neighbouring municipalities an opportunity to surf the internet at speeds of up to 42 Mbps. HSPA+ 42 now covers, among other locations, Liberec, České Budějovice, Mladá Boleslav, Zlín, Otrokovice and Prague 4, 11 and 12.
“We are the only operator in the Czech Republic to offer our customers the HSPA+ 42 technology. It is currently available to 12% of the population of the Czech Republic,” says Frank Meywerk, Technology Director at T-Mobile, adding: “Further expansion of the fastest 3G network will continue according to the capacity requirements.”
Mobile web browsing is experiencing a big boom. In Brno and its surroundings alone, the volume of transferred data in the 3G network in the first seven months of this year tripled compared to 2011. In spite of the substantial rise in the amount of transferred data, according to independent measurements by customers T-Mobile has been offering the fastest 3G internet service in the long term.
The HSPA+ 42 technology enables data downloads at speeds of up to 42 Mbps. In addition to inhabitants of the central parts of Brno, it can also be enjoyed by users from the city districts of Slatina, Tuřany, Řečkovice, Medlánky, Bystrc, Starý Lískovec, Nový Lískovec, Ivanovice and Obřany. Nearly 200 transmitters provide the fastest 3G network coverage also for neighbouring municipalities such as Jinačovice, Rozdrojovice, Kuřim, Lelekovice, Česká, Bílovice nad Svitavou, Podolí, Modřice, Šlapanice, Troubsko and Popůvky.
