Prague, 7 January 2010 - Kryštof's fans have a reason to rejoice: beginning today, they can download the band's eagerly anticipated new album, "Jeviště" ("Stage"), at www.t-music.cz for a very attractive price. T‑Mobile customers can download the album for only CZK 99; customers of other operators will pay CZK 50 more.
This year Kryštof are celebrating their fifteenth anniversary, which they are celebrating with the release of their new album, Jeviště. While the album will be released as a standard CD on 22 January, the band's fans can already download it in digital format for a price which is truly unusual in the Czech market.
"In cooperation with Kryštof, we want to continue the successful trend of offering albums of selected Czech and Slovak bands in an innovative form. This time, customers can download both the album and the CD cover at the t-music portal for a price that we believe is fair for music fans," says Michal Němec, Vice President Mobile Portal & Content Services at T‑Mobile.
"We are not very inclined towards distribution of music for free, so this is a compromise of sorts. CD lovers like myself can buy the album in the traditional format. And those who complain about the prices of music CDs, claiming that if music were cheaper they would happily pay for it, can now put their money where their mouth is. Or maybe we will just find that even this is not enough for them," adds Richard Krajčo, lead singer of Kryštof.
All tracks are in MP3 (320 kbps) format and without DRM protection against copying. Customers can download not only the album's music content but also the CD cover. The band's fans can select from two methods of paying for Jeviště: either via a Premium SMS or by using their bank cards. Fans who are T‑Mobile customers will only pay CZK 99 for downloading the album; the price for customers of other operators is CZK 149 (incl. VAT).
At www.t-music.cz/krystof, fans can find not only the album and payment instructions but also all the information about the upcoming t-music Kryštof tour, a blog with the band's lead singer, Richard Krajčo, online games and contests to win attractive prices, such as mobile phones and concert tickets.
Another activity which the band has prepared to celebrate its 15th anniversary is the upcoming t‑music Kryštof Tour 2010. The tour will kick off on 19 February 2010 at Prague's Tesla Arena, followed by a show at the Brno Exhibition Centre on 23 February. The last concert will be played on 23 February at Ostrava's ČEZ Arena. The band has chosen Xindl X as the opening act on the tour.
About Kryštof
The band was formed 15 years ago in Havířov as The Kryštof. Frontman Richard Krajčo, together with bassist Nikolaj Arichtev, are the only two members of the current line-up remaining from the early period. The definite article in the band's name was intended to ridicule Czech garage bands that were trying to make their way to MTV by singing in "perfect" English.
The year 2000, when the band's demo recording was played on Czech Radio in Ostrava and drew the attention of Monitor EMI, is considered to be its breakthrough year. The band made its debut with the Magnetické pole ("Magnetic Field") album and following that was declared to be the best new act on the Czech music scene.
In 2002, the band released its second album, titled V siločárách ("Within lines of force"), followed two years later by the Mikrokosmos ("Microcosm") album, for which the band won an Angel award from the Czech Academy of Popular Music. The band's last album, Rubikon ("Rubicon"), was recorded in 2006 and received three Angel awards. A year later, Kryštof collected their greatest hits on the compilation Poločas ("Half") and set out on a highly successful acoustic theatre tour, which culminated with the recording of the Kryštof v Opeře ("Kryštof at the Opera"). Jeviště is the band's fifth studio album.
