Prague, 3 July 2007 - The winners have been announced for the JaXmobilem contest seeking the wittiest captions for cartoons by Štěpán Mareš. A four-member expert jury assessed all 1,162 received suggestions and chose the best 30 for each of the three contest pictures. The first-prize winners of the individual categories will receive the TMobile Bav se tariff plan for one year while the second- and third-place winners will get Twist cards with credit in the amount of CZK 500. All 90 winners will receive a special T-shirt with a picture by Štěpán Mareš.
The participants of the contest, which ran from 31 March to 31 May, had to post a witty caption on the www.jaxmobilem.cz website that would match one of the three contest pictures. The maximum length of the submitted text was 160 characters but people could contribute with any number of captions. Most participants sent two or more contributions to the contest. The first picture (Lions) received the highest number of suggestions (469).
"The contest was launched together with this year's celebration of Mobile Etiquette Day. We are glad that so many people took part in it. The topic of proper behavior in connection with mobile phones proved very attractive; the submitted contributions were packed with ideas," says Martina Kemrová, Head of Corporate Communication at T-Mobile, who was on the expert jury that assessed the contributions and chose the best ones. The jury also included Jitka Chocová, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at T-Mobile, Lenka Bull, editor-in-chief of Joy magazine, and the cartoonist Štěpán Mareš.
Winning contributions:
Picture no. 1 (Lions)
Jiří Mesicki: "Marie, that roaring elephant noise you've just made - could you do it again, but louder? It might scare those lions off."
Picture no. 2 (Teacher)
Magdalena Dihlová: "Well, Petr, I told you to be careful. Now your thumb is turning blue."
Picture no. 3 (Wedding)
Simona Kolková: "Hi, no, you're not disturbing me at all. What? I can't believe it.... What came next? Oh, hold on a sec - I do - sorry, just getting married. Now back to what you said...."
