Prague, 13 November 2007 - Interest in high-speed mobile internet access is growing. Over the first nine months of this year, the number of subscribers to the unlimited-internet products from T-Mobile increased by 60,000. At the end of September, the number of customers who had subscribed to any of the T-Mobile data services thus exceeded the 220,000 mark.
The company's focus on offering products and services tailored to the needs of individual customer groups has brought very positive results in the area of data services. "This year, we have become the most popular internet access provider in the Czech Republic. During the first nine months of this year, we gained 60,000 new users of our internet services," says Petr Dvořák, Vice President Category & Product Management at T‑Mobile.
Out of the total of 220,000 users of data services, 120,000 subscribed to a tariff plan enabling access using a PC or notebook. "Our customers pay on average CZK 450/month for internet access. There are no additional fees as in the case of fixed lines, for example," adds Petr Dvořák. A total of 100,000 customers enjoy full internet access directly via their mobile phones. Thanks to special bundles and the web'n'walk service, they can surf the internet on their handsets for a reasonable monthly fee and without any limitations.
T-Mobile can satisfy the intense interest in internet services thanks to its comprehensive portfolio of services. The Internet 4G service (which is based on UMTS TDD technology) is available to more than fifty percent of the Czech population, and EDGE is now accessible to more than eighty percent of the population. Customers can choose from among several tariff plans (Internet Basic, Standard and Premium), their prepaid variants (Twist Internet, Twist Internet Basic) and a number of add-ons. Modems and data cards can be purchased for prices starting at CZK 1. Those who do not want to access the internet from their PC or notebook can activate bundles offering unlimited internet access directly from a mobile phone (Surf+, Surf&Mail+).
In October, T-Mobile launched a new offer for customers who would like to use data services but do not have a PC. When signing a two-year contract for any of the Internet 4G tariff plans, customers can get an Acer notebook for as little as CZK 3,999 (incl. VAT) in addition to a data card, thus solving three problems at the same time: they get a high-quality notebook and internet access and they won't have to worry about installation. All they need to do is visit any of the T-Mobile shops. Thousands of notebooks have been already sold.
Free internet access for six months - now extended!
Those who are still hesitating about getting high-speed internet access from T-Mobile can still try out Internet 4G free of charge. Due to huge interest in this service, T-Mobile extended the promo offer based on which customers will not have to pay the monthly fee for six months when signing a two-year contract for any of the Internet 4G tariff plans. When signing a one-year contract, they can enjoy free internet access for three months.
The primary benefit for customers is that they can start using the internet services immediately upon purchase. When purchasing a bundle for internet access on their handset, customers need only to send an activation SMS. In addition, installation of a modem or data card is so easy that a complete novice can handle it.
