All mobile devices from the operator’s portfolio can be purchased in instalments
Customers no longer have to provide any down payment
Three payment-period options available: 6, 12 and 24 months
Prague, 31 January 2014 – Beginning on the first day of February, T-Mobile is improving the conditions for purchasing mobile devices in instalments. The operator’s customers will have the possibility to purchase any mobile device from T-Mobile’s portfolio in instalments. Additionally, the choice of the payment period has been simplified and it will no longer be necessary to provide a down payment.
“The past nine months has shown that our customers have been extensively using the opportunity of purchasing mobile devices in instalments without interest. The latest modifications of the instalment scheme should make this method of purchasing handsets or tablets even more accessible to our customers and have also allowed us to expand the offer with modems and other devices,” says Dana Tomášková, Vice President Resident Marketing at T-Mobile.
The selection of the period during which customers will pay for devices will be harmonised with the term of a standard contract, i.e., 12 or 24 months. However, a six-month option will also be available to those customers who wish to pay for their devices over a shorter period of time.
As an innovation, customers no longer have to provide a down payment – instead, they will pay the first instalment as the down payment, which depends on the device to be purchased and the type of contractual relationship. Similarly as before, the second instalment is paid within an invoice. Instalments are calculated based on the down payment and the selected payment period. The benefit consisting in the possibility to deposit a down payment of only CZK 1 with selected devices, which is available to the operator’s existing customers, remains in place. The rules for purchasing mobile devices have thus been unified.
The instalment scheme is available to all customers extending an existing fixed-term contract or entering into a new one. Customers can select this payment method in all sales channels, including the e-shop. While this form of purchasing a device had previously been available only with mobile phones and selected devices, it will now apply to all mobile devices in the operator’s portfolio. At the same time, the sale of products at subsidised prices subject to a minimum monthly payment will be discontinued. Subsidies remain available with fixed-line devices.
