Chuck Norris will strike again

  • Festival of Chuck Norris films starts at the Světozor cinema in two days
  • Chuck’s Shaolin temple open at  Anděl in Prague this weekend only

Prague, 6 December 2010 – T-Mobile has prepared another surprise for hundreds of thousands of fans of its campaign featuring Chuck Norris: a festival of Chuck's best films and, above all, the “Chuckoleum”, a Shaolin temple in Prague’s Smíchov neighbourhood.

“Czechs love humour and therefore we believe that they will appreciate the unique Chuckoleum project,” says Martin Jaroš, Vice President Market Communication at T-Mobile, adding: “The response from fans on the internet was so strong that we have decided to take Chuck to the streets and make the pre-Christmas rush more agreeable for people.”

And what can we imagine under the name Chuckoleum? Once upon a time when the Earth was still angular and time went backwards, Chuck received a gift. Bruce Lee, his rival and opponent who dealt him many blows both above and below the belt, bequeathed to Chuck a Shaolin temple – Chuckoleum.

The structure has the same number of rooms as there are months in a year and is open from 9 December to 11 December between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Nádražní ulice in Prague 5 (Anděl metro station). Fans really have something to look forward to, as they can see a number of artefacts from Chuck's life, such as grater-plate toilet paper, a cobra that died after being bitten by Chuck Norris and many other priceless exhibits. Invitations can be viewed on facebook and at www.chuckovice.cz, which will also feature a virtual tour of the temple. Admission is naturally free for everyone, including customers of rival operators.

For die-hard fans, T-Mobile has prepared a festival of Chuck Norris films. Screenings start the day after tomorrow, on Wednesday 8 December, at the Světozor cinema. Films will be screened simultaneously in two rooms starting at 7 p.m. Fans will have a possibility to watch such movie hits as Way of the Dragon, Delta Force and Missing in Action, among others. The accompanying programme is also very diverse: customers will have an opportunity to receive a Chuck T-shirt, the actor’s photograph and to practice martial-arts moves in computer games. Admission is CZK 30 and includes a welcome drink and a festival T-shirt.

Other exhibits documenting Chuck's famous feats can be seen in December in three shopping centres – in Prague's Flora and Eden and Brno's Avion. Visitors can thus look forward to an exercise bike on which Chuck Norris won the Tour de France and Chuck’s birthplace, a log cabin which he built himself. Selected artefacts will then also be exhibited in Prague in special city-light display cases.
