Prague, 12 December 2018 - In recent years, virtual reality has become a buzzword and found uses in a number of sectors. Beginning today, customers at the T-Mobile shop in Prague’s Roztyly district can now make their time spent at the shop more pleasurable thanks to this technology. This involves a pilot project that is testing the virtual reality zone and the experience-based method of presentation the operator’s products; more shops will follow next year. T-Mobile is the first operator in the Czech Republic to introduce this innovative method of presenting its products and services at its shops.
First-hand experience of services
A virtual reality zone has been prepared for customers directly at the T-Mobile shop in Prague’s Roztyly district, where they can try out several products and services from T-Mobile’s portfolio in a household environment using virtual reality. With a VR headset, they can have a closer look at the Magenta 1 service, which brings benefits by combining mobile and fixed-line services under one contract. They can also learn more about T-Mobile’s offer of TV and internet services; for the latter, the operator also shows the different methods of access. Additionally, customers will learn about the Smart Car (Chytré auto) service, which provides instant information about the vehicle’s condition and maps current driving characteristics as well as the vehicle’s location. Customers will have an opportunity to explore and go through the household environment. In addition to learning more information about the products, they can experience several surprising moments – they can instantly be transported from a cosy living room to the other side of the globe or, for example, to an undersea world.
VR headset
Two Samsung VR headsets are currently available at the T-Mobile shop. T-Mobile has chosen the Samsung Gear VR model with a Samsung GALAXY S9+. The VR headset is connected to the waiting system; therefore, customers do not need to worry that they will not notice that it is their turn because of the VR headset. “We have combined business with pleasure. Customers will not only learn more about our products but they will also have fun and their time spent at the shop will fly by faster,” says Jiří Šrajer, Senior Manager of Residential Sale Support and Development, adding: “We are convinced that the future lies in having first-hand experience of products.” All customers can set out in the world of virtual reality. After putting the VR headset on, an intro and a tutorial will be launched, in which customers will learn how to navigate in virtual reality and how to use the VR headset. Everything is very intuitive and simple; even people wearing a VR headset for the first time will be able to use it.

The VR headset is the core element of the virtual reality zone. The hardware – the headset and the phone – was supplied by Samsung. The software solution was developed by PresentiGo, a Czech software company focusing on original and innovative presentations. “We are proud that we had an opportunity to develop an utterly new category of presentation of products and services to customers in virtual reality for T-Mobile. At the shop, customers can now wander through a virtual house and explore all the great services from T-Mobile,” says Adam Mrštík, Business Director at PresentiGo, adding: “The VR home is built using Unity3D technology. It is the same technology as used by gaming developers and film studios such as Pixar and Walt Disney. I am convinced that the new service will be a welcome addition for customers.” The VR zone has been designed and produced by agency Havas.
