As The First In The World, Paegas Offers GSM Banking On Prepaid Cards

  • Users of Paegas Twist prepaid services can use all the advantages brought about by GSM banking
  • Only the operator of the Paegas network offers GSM banking services in the CR
  • Today, almost all phones in current offer support SIM Toolkit and hence also banking services
  • Thanks to partnership with Czech top banks owners of millions of accounts can already use the GSM banking services now

RadioMobil further increases its advantage of the prepaid Paegas Twist service in the area of services it offers to its customers by making also GSM banking accessible. The Czech operator is one of the first GSM operators in the world to allow the owners of prepaid cards to use GSM banking. The Company again evidences the strategy of making interesting technologies accessible to all customers and not limiting itself to a small group of users. "We remain far ahead of the competition as far as services are concerned, and this is of course reflected in the increasing number of clients," the marketing director Robert Chvátal said.

Buyers of prepaid services can purchase a Twist card with banking services based on the SIM Toolkit technology for CZK 1 599, while a common SIM card with Paegas Info services costs CZK 1 399. The owner of a banking SIM card gets the same possibilities as the users of regular rate plans, who can use GSM banking since two years now. "We have been offering the GSM banking services to clients since two years and the number of users is growing rapidly. So far there is not any more comfortable way of fully controlling your bank account anywhere and anytime with preservation of absolute safety," the marketing director of the RadioMobil Company Robert Chvátal said.

With a SIM card supporting GSM banking it will do to go to the bank - at the moment the application is supported by Expandia Banka and IPB, in a short time also ÄŚSOB and a number of other banks are preparing for it - and record the banking application there. The user can then work with his/her bank account anytime and anywhere in a similar way as if he/she visited a bank branch. "All our customers get not only GSM services, but also another tool to work with their bank account more effectively and comfortably. Only one Czech operator and very few world telecommunication service operators can offer that to them," Robert Chvátal remarked.

Owners of phones supporting the SIM Toolkit standard, who do not have a SIM card that allows to record a banking application, can exchange it in Paegas brand stores. The exchange of a SIM card costs CZK 400. However, customers of Expandia Banka can get it for free if they produce their EB credit card bearing his/her name. If the customer is buying a new Twist set and wants a banking SIM card instead of the one included, the only thing needed is to pay an extra CZK 200 to the price of the selected Twist set. "Everyone interested in using banking services in the Paegas network has several possibilities how to get a banking SIM card," Tereza Kakosová added. "It is the second revolutionary novelty for prepaid Paegas Twist service users in March. Recently we allowed them to use data and fax apart from voice connection. They can also use services based on the WAP standard and now banking as well. It is therefore completely evident that we do not have a competitor on the Czech market in a number of services and we are even a leading operator in the service area worldwide," Tereza Kakosová remarked.

RadioMobil Incorporated is the operator of the GSM network called Paegas, which today covers over 99 % of the Czech population and 99.8 % of first-class roads. Customers can use a Paegas GSM mobile phone in networks of 170 operators from almost 80 countries of the whole world. In half of March 2000 more than 1 000 000 customers used the services of the Paegas GSM network, into which RadioMobil invested 6 billion crowns only during 1999, which is a billion more than the other operator. Paegas hence became the leading operator on the Czech market by the number of new activations, when it acquired more than 500 000 new customers in 1999 as the first in the Czech mobile market history and over 125 thousand new clients during the first weeks of 2000.
