T-Mobile will bring unique technologies, a rich accompanying program, recycling and gifts for everyone to Jizerská 50

T-Mobile continues its long-term premium partnership with Jizerská 50. And this year, it brings high-tech innovations to one of the largest cross-country skiing races in the Czech Republic. The operator is developing the concept of mobile connectivity using a stratospheric platform and at the same time introducing a new IoT solution that can help competitors prepare for the race easier. The operator will also focus on sustainability at Jizerská 50 – both recycling phones and reducing the excessive use of plastics. At the same time, it will support the Society for the Jizera Mountains.

This year's edition will traditionally offer a T-Mobile company relay, which will run on Friday, January 30, and visitors can also train on the popular Magenta track in the length of 17 km. However, it pushes the technological possibilities of similar mass events a huge step further. This year's edition will include completely new IoT sensors located on selected sections of the line. These will monitor snow conditions, air temperature and humidity, wind speed, precipitation in real time and thus provide up-to-date data through www.jiz50.cz. A total of four IoT sensors and two weather stations will be used. This will make it easier for competitors to choose the right wax for the preparation of their skis. The technology will remain in the field throughout the winter season and will serve cross-country skiers outside the Jizerská 50. Thanks to this, all cross-country skiers can use it and get a better overview of the conditions before leaving for the Jizera Mountains.

After last year's success, T-Mobile will further strengthen mobile connectivity at the plant location. It will deploy a stratospheric aircraft and, in suitable weather conditions, two drones. It will be the deployment of a unique solution for providing mobile signals over a larger area. It is another step in the journey that the company started two years ago in response to floods with the aim of helping people in vulnerable areas.

"Reliable connectivity is crucial not only for the organizers and the media, but also for the thousands of visitors from home and abroad who move around in Bedřichov during the race weekend and want to communicate with their loved ones in real time and share authentic experiences with them. T-Mobile tested the technology of boosting connectivity using drones last year, as the first in Europe. Now, in cooperation with the DT Group, we will help it take it one step further. Its potential not only for commercial use, but also for the IRS is enormous – it can bring the signal almost anywhere," says Petar Babić, Commercial Director for the Residential Segment and Member of the Management Board of T-Mobile Czech Republic.

A stratospheric aircraft is less dependent on the weather than drones, from an altitude of about 15 km it allows you to cover a larger area with a mobile signal and lasts longer in the air. It is the major sporting events that allow the operator to test these innovative solutions safely and in real conditions in the field. The upcoming solution at Jizerská 50 is a 3D concept network – i.e. a functional combination of coverage from the ground (via BTS), from the air (drone) and from the stratosphere (stratospheric aircraft), with the possibility of connecting to the satellite segment. In this case, the frequency of 2,600 MHz will be used.

At the same time, T-Mobile is preparing a pleasant festival zone with a number of interesting activities for visitors. For example, all competitors will be able to take away their photo with their name and the resulting time in the Jizerská 50 visual as a nice memory of the race.

Competitors will receive a free magenta dry bag during their first participation (it can be purchased for 200 crowns if they participate repeatedly) – they can use it again and again. The funds raised from the sale of the bags go to support the Society for the Jizera Mountains, which has been working since 1999 to preserve the natural values of the Jizera Mountains for future generations. T-Mobile customers can also pick up a practical gift for registration at selected stores in Liberec, Jablonec and Prague until 29 January – liquid glide wax. It provides good durability, excellent glide on natural and artificial snow, and is environmentally friendly thanks to its zero fluoride content.

All T-Mobile customers can then get 10 GB for free in the app. All you have to do is activate the package in the My T-Mobile application between 28 January and 5 February – they can then use it for 30 days from activation or until the data is exhausted.

Sustainability remains an essential component of T-Mobile's participation in the Jizerská 50. The Remobil recycling box will again be located in the T-Mobile zone, where visitors can hand in their old mobile phones and participate in the competition for the entry fee for the next year of the Jizerská 50 and other nice prizes. The operator has been supporting Remobil for a long time – the collection box is available at every T-Mobile store in the Czech Republic.
