While Christmas Eve traffic in 2025 showed a continued declining trend year-over-year for calls and SMS, data usage grew. Overall voice traffic dropped by 2.4% (a total of 13,996 million calls). There were around 7.27 million outgoing calls in the T-Mobile network, which is 2.24% less year-over-year than last Christmas.
This year’s peak call time shifted by half an hour, to 10:15–11:15 (last year 09:45–10:45). For comparison, the busiest day in the T-Mobile network for calls was the same as last year—the first day of school on September 1, 2025, with approximately 17.37 million calls. On this Christmas Eve, a total of over 4.6 million SMS were sent from mobile devices alone (a 22.75% decline year-over-year), and nearly 192,000 MMS, which is a 13.45% drop. Data traffic on Christmas Eve increased by 27.45% year-over-year. The hour of peak data traffic was 21:30–22:30.
T-Mobile also opened an advent calendar this year for its customers in the My T-Mobile app under the Magenta Moments section, offering, for example, a trip to Santa Claus’s village in Finland, contests for trips, cinema vouchers, or discounts on flights. It didn’t forget those in need either—this time it’s a collection for the Nevypusť duši organization, which teaches students how to care for mental health and is still ongoing, so it’s possible to contribute even during the holidays. The PlayStation and Xbox contest, which started on Christmas Eve, is also still running for another 17 days. Over 220,000 participants entered the first contest for a trip to Santa Claus’s village. A total of nearly 590,000 users visited the advent calendar in December.
